I've tried it, and I guess it's a decent way to make use of a weapon that's really fast, since it gives a higher chance of getting a critical hit that can make the target fall down, drop weapons, get stunned or fall unconscious. And with a fast weapon you'd get enough chances to actually make a difference, since you miss more often, and since you don't always get an effect that matters.

But it's kind of pointless if you can just whack them 3-4 times to make them die. You can also hold down Shift at the same time to stand still while attacking, which is a good idea if you're using a ranged weapon in realtime combat. Which can make you easily win against superiour melee opponents in multiplayer mode, where every NPC is limited to walk animations, making them slow enough that you can 'run and gun' them to death.

Kind of a bother to hold down two buttons at once though, so if I had to choose, I'd go with the more important Shift-button, because even when the targets are walking, it's still too easy to misclick and end up running towards them.

I always have turn based combat set on before any battle, so I don't have to use the shift key, or missclick. I switch back to realtime after I have my target, though.

    ^ Same situation here.

Ok, yes, all of this may have been in the manual, but it would have been comedic for Virgil to have informed the player about dragging the bodies of the thugs in the Shrouded Hill's inn or something to hide the bodies. ^^

But seriously, some people don't read manuals, and others, like myself, didn't receive a physical manual.
