Master picklocks is in Caladon. Expert picklocks are in Caladon, Blackroot and possibly Tarant (Mr Black I think in Tarant).

You know what's really silly? You'd think that if you lvled up to lvl 50 before going to Tsen-Ang, that when you get to the Sobbing Onion, Virgil would be able to kill the thieves. He can't. I never tried that, but it must happen, as his death is scripted. I did notice however that a lvl 40 Virgil takes fifteen seconds to die from the bandits, whereas the first time I played through, a lvl 25 Virgil was already unconscious as soon as I got there. Interesting.

There's fifteen levels between 25 and 40 . I think a level 1 person would last a lot shorter in a fight than a level 16 person would, don't you?

thats right. when you enter the basemant, switch instantly to turn mode, which will give you more time to reach the thievies, then before he's dead attack them with a ranged weapon, they will leave him and attack you, virgil is not flatlined, but sadly he behaves as he did die
