   I did that once. Of course, my method involved a bundle of dynamite planted at the door, during which time my followers ALL rushed the door and began to beat it down, but not before the dynamite exploded and killed every last one of them. I had to reload my save...I can do without the people, but I can't get through ANY of my playthroughs without the Dog.

   Try telling your followers to attack the door... and then start casting chain fireballs, hitting everything but the door. Of course, the door would be hit by splash damadge and finally get the idea and get out of your way... but that's not what the show is about
