My new favorite is "how perfect is that?" It's one of those nonsense, say-nothing rhetorical questions for which I've actually found a use.
If I'm caught saying that to someone, I either hate some fiber of that person's being, said person is a child, or both.

    How perfect is that?

    I'm not just skeptical of cold-war propaganda wars, I'm a "hoax-believer"? That's like NASA's official counter-claim, "only crackpots don't believe it."

By that logic, anyone that doesn't believe in the bible is a "satan-believer" instead of an honest skeptic.

I'd be delighted to backflip on this issue and I'm sorry that I happen to be on the same side as idiots and paranoid schitzaphrenics. But I'm comforted to know that you are on the same side as Xyle and Nixon.

Didn't you know that some religious individuals actually believe that?
    • The logic is that you are either for or against: If you are not for God, then you must be against him --> You have been told that God exists and the Bible is His Word; if you do not accept this, then you lack Faith. "But without faith it is impossible to please [God]" (Hebrews 11:6a) If you do not seek to please God, you must be only seeking to please yourself. Those that seek to please themselves will follow the desires of their flesh and live ungodly sinful lives. If you live an ungodly and unrepent life, you commit the crimes that damn yourself to hell. etc. etc. etc. Thousands of statements that are believed without any futher proof that they are taught from the pulpit and read in the Bible, and each and every one of them confirm and strengthen the beliefs in the other statements. In the minds of the religious extreme, logic and skeptism has no power to persuade because an "honest skeptic" is one who believes in Satan's lie that skeptism is good.
This is not the extreme that I take things to, because skeptism and logic are useful tools. However, like any good tool, you need to know when to use them and when not to. Unfortunately, the nature of logic is such that it can justify any belief; therefore, how can one claim to be an "honest skeptic" when logic cannot be used properly to reach the ends that the "honest skeptic" claims that logic can reach? Invariably, regardless of how much a person learns and knows, it all comes down to a choice based in a person's heart and not in their head. I believe in Jesus for no other reason than because I choose to.[/i]

Erm, yes I did know some people believe it. There's no need for the constant Xylepedia entries, thankyou.

Also, I think it's great that you're keen on Jesus; thanks for sharing. No-one said anything about Jesus. I disagree with almost every single thing you say, Xyle, but I do agree that Jesus rules, okay?

In fact, no-one disagrees that Jesus rules. Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, Hindus, we all agree that Jesus is a master's master. We also all agree that clarity trumps certainty, humility trumps pride, silence trumps boasting and love trumps everything.

The Bhagavad Gita teaches that there are three paths of discipleship and three kinds of disciple, Bhakti, Karma and Jnana: Heart, body and mind. You are clearly bhakti, which is great. Go Jesus!

Just try not to confuse your passionate devotion to the messiah with an abilty to master debate. In other words, please be quiet, bhaktiyogi, the jnanayogi are speaking.

Not what logic is. Look it up on something that wasn't written for the likes of you.

I don't believe logic can justify anything, and I intend to justify my belief, logically!

Hey ytzk, it's great that you're so keen on the Bhagavad Gita and all, but please try to keep pagan books out of our discussions about Jesus.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was due to a flaw in beliefs or the logic used to justify them.
