Thanks, Maniac! I was getting a bit self-concious at the prospect of asking such a silly thing a third time. I'll register now, before I go to bed. I won't have time to play a turn, though.

Milo, register while I'm asleep, and explain the whole game, in depth (with diagrams) to me, so I can sort it when I wake. Get Mikey to do it to.

 

As getting planets etc. relies on strength, then perhaps it's best if you all join our existing alliance. Aside from boosting our ranking, once we are all at higher levels, we'll have enough people to kick some serious ass!

BTW - choose you race carefully, as it's with you forever. Wraith is very nice, for the automatic cloak, but you get penalised in other areas. Kitarans are fast, and therefore are harder to hit, and you get more turns, but your ships are weaker. etc. etc. etc.

I'm in an alliance called the starfighters of (something like) adumar, and they have (i think its) a star wars a-wing ship.

But as soon as you create the ta alliance, ill join up. seeing as how its so hard to get a planet. But we will conquer one for ourselves! =]

Ferret or Notorah, I'd greatly appreciate some seed money, if you can manage it. I'm still not sure about the whole alliance thing (I'd really like to get a TA one going if I could) but naturally, we'll all be friends in the game even if we're not officially allied.

Later that day our porcine policeman returns in a jumpsuit.

I just spent my first 70 turns (of the 500 you get when you start). It seems pretty straightforward to level. I'm level 5 and have $6000000. Knowing PBEM's that probably means everyone has levels over 2000 and bank accounts weighed down with zeros. Still, it was quite fun trading. Had an Elite feel, and I'm all for elitism.

 

Actually, it takes ages to level up - I'm level 19 right now, but everytime you get podded, you lose 1-2 levels (1/10 of your total EXP).

Notty has no durastiction within the alliance - he's just a member who like to try and recruit lots of people in. That's not a bad thing mind you - lots of people make a stronger alliance.

BTW, you can only have 1 Full Alliance, so an alliance with you would be a slight chance, especially in light of our relationship with the Rogue Kitaran Fleet. It would be better if you all joined our alliance.

I could then give you all some starting credits then too! (probably about 10 million to buy a resourcer and some drones and an upgrade).

Ok, I took the plunge.

I just registered as Evil Betty, piloting my starship the Evil Betty Jr. I selected Deriv as my race because I'm boring and the little drawing was a picture of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII smoking a cigarette and anything which encourages kids to smoke is cool in my book.

All I have to do now is wait for my password to arrive and then I can jump in and get my feet wet. I suppose I'll read the webpage a little more and try to get a grasp of the game. It's still a little confusing, all this talk of alliances and factions.

Question(s): If I join an alliance now, how long is that binding? Like is it bad form to join an alliance to start out and then possibly take a chunk of members later on from within and start a new one? I'm thinking of a TA-HoL alliance, of course. And what are these factions all about? Can we join those, too? There was one listed on the TDZK website called the Rim Pirates. I haven't read the description yet, but the idea that I can become Evil Betty the Rim Pirate is beyond beautiful. Hahaha, "rim pirate"... I wonder if that name was intentional or not.

Hey, i am makin an account right now. I am all for makin an alliance for us, but it isnt goin to be only for people from this board is it? I mean, that is kinda restraining. Perhaps just get as many people from here as possible then look at outsiders? Just a suggestion.

Let's make it a cabal. The real ta-holers (us) can control it, but we'll invite people to join to be our minions.

 

Nice concept, of course, i dont know enough about the game to know how well it will work. Actually i know nothing about the game and am kinda bewildered by all of it on this first screen. lol

 

This is precisely the reason why I suggest you join our alliance. It'll make it all the more powerful, and we'll all more or less know each other anyway.

It also means that we'll be able to help each other more readily, and we can give you some starting money from the alliance account. Since we're earning 170 million credits a day in interest, I think I can bump up that offer to 15 million to all NEWBIES and 10 million to all exitsting members.

When you join an alliance, you can leave at any point, but it takes 3 days before you can join another one or form one of your own.

Also, I think it's spelt Durasdiction, and it means 'zone of control', sort of. For example, a harbour master's durasdiction is the harbour, whereas a traffic policeman's durasdiction is the road network in his/her county/state.

 

Oh, jurisdiction. I think. DAMN YOU ENGLISH (language, that is, not the people).

I'm going to upgrade my ship. I have 2,333,000 spacebucks. Should I go for a freighter or a resourcer? Answer quick, plz, time's a wasting. The freighter seems better, but it doesn't have any "drones" whereas the resourcer has 20. I don't know what those are yet.

EDIT - Too late, I bought the Resourcer. Fatman said something like "I bought the Freighter, but Ferret and them said the Resourcer was better." So I went with the crowd.

 

Resourcer is much better. Slightly slower than the frieghter, but bigger hold and gather capability, as well as stronger and has drones.

You can still trade just as easily, and with a bigger hold it's well worth it, but resourcing gives better EXP, although it takes more turns.

Either way, resourcer is better. Don't forget to set your weapons mode to None/4x Evade though, to maximise your chances of escaping combat.
