Eh, I prefer Jason O'Mara for Batman's voice. But maybe I'm just not thinking clearly right now because I live in the northern hemisphere.

By the way, does anyone here like Shazam / Captain Marvel at all? I just think his concept is stupid and lame, and Billy Batson is annoying and lame. It brings down anything the character is in, for me.

    Good morning.

I prefer Shazam when Billy isn't like 10 years old. When he acts like a kid as opposed to just a young person who thinks being a hero is cool, it gets dumb.

Another interesting development with my crazy flat, I had a guy round who said it's actually low income housing - so it seems like my landlord's partner who I've heard used to live here moved out and now my current landlord has sub-letted it to us, presumably charging more rent than his girlfriend pays the other estate agents. I was obviously never aware of this, having rented the property through a different estate agents ourselves so we thought it was all above board.

It's one of those situations where I don't know if I should have been honest to the guy who came round, because by doing so I've inadvertently revealed my landlord's potentially criminal behaviour - however it seems like pretty soon this company would have realised what was up if they were already investigating now and lying on his behalf didn't seem like a sensible or legal thing to do (besides how could I possibly come up with a suitable lie, his girlfriend literally doesn't live here, I can't exactly pretend like she does). I guess he's probably a lazy guy trying to pull off a little bit of fraud, but in my mind he's already Tony Montana so I'm feeling pretty fucking twitchy right now.

I'm not exactly sure what to do, I guess getting the fuck out of dodge seems like a sensible option - there's only so quick you can arrange a move though. Any sound advice? I guess that'll teach me not to have moved out years ago, when I found out the downstairs neighbours are junkies.

    Good morning.

In the end I rang a relative and spoke to them about it, and they said I should just text the landlord and let him know what had transpired and that I'd given the housing agency his number to follow him (obviously avoiding mentioning the agency told me he was doing something criminal and I was soon to be evicted, saying it was likely a "misunderstanding"). The landlord was going to know sooner or later it was me anyway, so worse case scenario if this guy was a thug then pre-empting him with the facts might mean he wouldn't want to brain me as much, and in the case it is just a misunderstanding it is the normal thing to do. I guess I shouldn't just assume criminality, but when there's a guy on your door telling you, "He's a criminal," it's pretty hard not to.

In any case the landlord got back to me and said that the company bills them at their current address so it's pretty patently obvious his partner isn't living here, and after that I read online that the housing agency does allow subletting in their contracts. Whether or not they allow this for the low income houses which are meant to be for needy people (homeless, junkies and crazies it said on their website) is another matter, so there's still a chance something weird is going on. However he was apologetic about it, so I think my chances of being Tony Montana-ed are slim to none. I will however now try and move pretty sharpish regardless.

I guess now it's time to take off my rouge and my street-walker garb and stop being such a drama-whore. I wanted a sounding board here as you're all reasonably sane people with good judgement, and if it wasn't sorted by the time I got back from work and my family had failed to provide any decent advice I could have fallen back on your suggestions - I wasn't trying to give you a blow by blow account of my life which I'm sure you're all extremely riveted by.

Why they even had a guy come round and act like such a massive bellend - being vaguely accusatory of me initially, then telling me my landlord is a criminal and I'm certain to be evicted, when they must know the woman doesn't live here anymore because they bill her at another address - is beyond me. I've lived here 6 and a half years, so if they've taken all this time to come round because they did think she should be living here then they're grossly incompetent. A quick look at their own records before they tried this would have sorted it all fine, rather than almost giving me a damn heart-attack.

In any case, sorry for wasting everyone's time. The regular programme of forum nonsense can now resume, and remember the forum does now have an "ignore" option. Good morning.

So half your flat is being rented out to your landlord's previous partner, through a separate Real-Estate agent, and you're paying more?
(Quite frankly nearly all housing in Australia is sort of low income housing, except for the poshies, yay for socialism!)

Actually, you can ignore posts from certain members if you choose.

As to the real estate politics: all of the englishmen are lying but don't worry, they're cowards.

    Good morning.

Apparently they're renting the whole flat, and then subletting it to us, which is normally illegal because it's usually in breach of contract. As I mentioned though, this housing company does allow for that (personally I thought when you subletted you had to also live in the house, i.e. rent a room and you stay in the other room, I'm really not sure) but the guy who came round from their company seemed pretty insistent it wasn't allowed. However, it does appear he doesn't know what he's talking about - given that she's charged for the flat at a different address. As I said, I'll try to move in the hopes that my next flat won't lead me into contact with so many arseholes.

    Good morning.

Clearly ytzk is inviting you to go and live with him in Australia. If I were you I'd waste no time and just fly out there and turn up on his doorstep - it will be a nice surprise, and I'm sure he'll welcome you with open arms and a lit bong.

    Good morning.

    Yeah man, for sure.

    Come over, chillax.

This whole nation is basically a support group for England's cultural fallout.

    Good morning.

Honestly, I wouldn't be afraid of someone, landlord or otherwise who causes so much run-around. (Personally I'd just get angry, all those people mucking you about on such a silly level of things.)

What had you so 'spooked' to begin with? As far as I know these kinds of individuals are too pathetic (and lazy) to even go out of their way to physically or legally confront? Maybe that's just Australia. Nobody seems to really give a crap about anything like that over here, and the ones that do generally end up being within the social circles of the junkies, and less-than-lawful and whatnot themselves.
I think my neighbours over the road are drug dealers, and the previous tenants here were drug dealers, according to my neighbours next door.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing, this sort of legal, bureaucratic, illegal/criminal, or semantic nonsense only gets me irritated and p***ed off, simply for the fact that it would be taking up my time, which I could be spending on more important things like playing Arcanum for the 8th time... Not that it's necessarily wrong to be so edgy about it, guess we just have a different way of emotion?

What exactly does this have to do with you? Did a company representative from the housing commission come around and inquire about the whole business of things? Or was this guy just some random? I'd simply redirect their inquiry to the landlord, doesn't seem like you should be held responsible for paying some guy a few more dollars without knowing you should have or should not have.

In any case, with all of that run-around even occurring, I'd want to move too.
Yeah come on over to Australia, once you get used to the roasted giant spidersnakes and dire-dropbears instead of beef and chicken, it's not so bad.

It's as, sort of, ytzk said,
We're less afraid of that kind of garbage over here, it just pisses us off, at least in my experience.

Sorry for delivering the Archeon v2.0 in this post, just intrigued me a bit, this whole story.
    Good morning?

So my boss had to go to Ireland recently to help with the setup of a new facility.
He's a young go-getter, so he's a lot younger than most in his position. That and the fact that he's (to them) a foreigner, I expected there to be some resistance. Sure enough, he was getting some push-back.
I told him that he just needed to take them all out to a pub and drink them under the table. Then he have to submit to his will. It's the law over there.

I also warned him to be careful, as there are more drunks per capita in Ireland than people.

    Morning.

    Also, (double post! NOOOOOO!)
When I click on the ad (you know, to support the site and all that) for the "I made $486 from home" link my (works) firewall blocks it due to it being an unethical or dangerous site.
    Just sayin'

    Morning again.

You just wanted to make $486 from home.

I on the other hand want to know about married women who need me right now.

Doesn't Australia have some kind of emergency police phone number that the married women can call when they need you? Communicating via the adverts on this forum seems rather inefficient.

    Good morning.

    Especially so.
I don't think any girls are left here, atm.
Silvara, always a class act, simply faded.
    Xaio left in a huff.
Yuki...well, I don't know where Yuki is, but wherever it is she's probably being unabashedly 'Yuki'.

I'd say just a mixture of the area I live in can be rough and general paranoia. Tipping someone off to someone else's potentially criminal behaviour is always a little bit of a worrying thing to do.

Yeah it was just a representative, and I did just direct him to the landlord, but the representative was saying he was doing something illegal so there was a sense of dropping this guy in it. However as I said I think it was possibly just a complete misunderstanding from the company, as their most common tenancy agreement is a "non-assured shorthold" which does allow people to sublet. It's just a pain they sent round someone who seemingly didn't know what the hell he was talking about.

    Good morning.

    Not at all.
    A bit of admiration, actually.
At this particular point in my life, I wish I could drink the way media tells me the Irish, or even the Scotts, can.
