By any chance, you don't happen to accidentally press the space bar, do you?

 

I keep it at real-time for situations I already know I'm going to win. Otherwise I'm quick to press the space-bar-- Magicians are a millions times more effective when using turn-based. And it isn't a matter of speed-- sure, you can spam Harm quickly with the mouse, but in turn-based I can finish battles faster because my allies don't even get a chance to touch their targets. I also have time to down potions and cast things that will debuff or halt my opponents. That vines spell you can get at lower levels makes fighting multiple tough opponents a cinch.

 

Real time mode can be a bit easier if you have Sebastian around. He starts combat by hurling a grenade if he has one, so just give him some Stun grenades (which he himself makes), and there you go. He misses a lot though.

 

Oooo I made the mistake of crafting smoke grenades for him, he decided to throw one every single time he starts combat-- misses by a lot and it makes this really annoying loud sound

 

All that stuff you just asked if I could do, Solaris? Yeah, I can do that. Easy enough. I never, ever stun enemies. Just takes a lot of time. Harm 'em and they're gone in a sec.
And as for stun-granades, I simply use the quick-bar for those. Once again, simple enough.
