Lol, how to finish Time Module?

Cleaned the ruins dungeon, found the mage corpse, used the scroll on the portal and got back in the past; picked up darren with me and cleaned the whole ruins dungeon again; reached the depths of the mines, raped that shitter of malus augustus and... nothing. Just plain nothing.

What am i supposed to do? I alternatively killed darren to see if something happened, and indeed the game finished in the "sad" way, but what about the other ending?

The quest clearly stated to kill the big evil fucker, and when i saw that huge red thing, I just went rambo mode and 4shot that thing, but after i did so, darren didn't say anything, and neither leaving and picking him up again changed things.

Don't tell me i have to go all the way back to the town, because if that's what i have to do, i just won't.
