    The offspring of Telcontar?

Great its spreading, what is the best way to deal with it in its early stages?

Never mind, *picks up sword*. I'll get my coat.

No, no no. It will take more than a rusty sword. Vorak lets just say that there is a little bit of Telcontar in all of us....

I'm feeling unusually generous, so anyone that wants this 'piece of Telcontar' removed from themselves I'll loan you my gene splicer and giant centrifuge.

    Appearently not.

BTW: All I have left for shields is a home-made buckler and it's pretty beat up. Sorry.

I'm only part starfish. But its not to bad, the healing ability really does come in handy.

I'm uncertain. If you can get a full minute out of the thing, I'll be surprised.

Well i have the uttermost respect for rroyo for firstly beating him off and still having some of his shield in tact for later use.

From 1979 to 2003 I was pretty heavy into sword-play and medieval combat. Self-taught, strickly amature. The last yahoo I sparred with decided to go psycho on me and damned near broke my arm with his beating. As it was, he did lightly sprain my wrist, and cracked the buckler not quite all the way through.

    Edit: Thanks Tel.

Bloody hell. And how real were the weapons?

They were the real things. Of course, for the initial sparring, I did have a set of weighted fake swords, but once I was sure the guy wasn't just somebody who had watched one too many movies, we'd switch to our personal favorites. I tended to gravitate towards the double-edged straight sword - 30" inch blade - as that's what I used during my solo practice.

You are lucky to come out of it with just a sprained wrist. What sent him off exactly?

The guy I fought was with the Society For Creative Achronism (I spelled it wrong). They put on medieval shows for fairs and such. However - they are all show. Fake armor, fake weapons, flashy moves with minimum risk.
Chris had spent just shy of twenty years being the baddest "fighter" of the realm. Everything he had ever learned though wasn't quite up to the task of doing real battle against someone who was used to low-to-medium risk combat. In short, he couldn't stand the thought of losing.

So in other words he was a bad loser. Have you ever sustained any serious injuries like massive gashes or chunks of meat being ton out of you, even though I am sure you would wear a lot of armor?

I took my share of cuts and such over the years, but only one serious injury. I zigged when I was supposed to zag, and my partner, Ron Guy, got me in the right lung. A few weeks later, we were back at it again.

As for the armor - almost none. A football helmet, shoulder pads, and braces for my wrists and ankles was all I ever used.
