the problem comes from the punish to learn directory.

if the mods live by the rule that we are all evil from birth (oh this work from the good at birth angle as well, or the neutral stance) - and that we are to punish people to make them learn, and give em' goodies for being good (legalist philosophy at the root indeed) - having matt around might be a bad thing if you wanted to set an example by banning him (and thus perhaps remove future spammers by scare tactics) - or just by the fact that he questions the ritual of the law.

on the other hand you can view it as a good, as matt (if matt) have learned not to spam, and by this take it as the ritual of laws did work, that is they made matt learn not to spam and fuck with the ethics of the forum.

anyway I largely agree with settler, but I'm not modding the forum so I'll let the modders decide.

...and the readers can react by coming here more or less due to it.
