I think God doesn't control anything, he just orders around underlings to do so. Honestly, if you were all-powerful, and had created a horde of angels to serve you, would you NOT relegate certain things to other people?

And God musn't control the actions of angels, else how did Lucifer betray him? If God controls EVERYTHING, then is all evil is his work too, since he would have made Lucifer betray him? So, in order to believe in any sort of just and loving God, you must agree that while he is omnipotent, he doesn't CONTROL things. He possessing unrivalled power to influence and does not pull the strings of people or things like a puppet master.

On a side note, if every intelligent entity (humans and angels) are inclined to be given the capacity for free will, how do you then say the line between humans and very intelligent animals like dolphins or dogs is so drastic that their every action is decided by God, where none of ours are?

 

Sorry, angels slipped my mind, but yes they do have a free will, to a degree. Dolphins and dogs were not made in the image of God. Man was. God is in control, but he allows man to make his own choices and suffer the consequences thereof.

God is indeed watching over the boys (and girls) in Iraq. those that die, die for a reason. i have prayed nightly for my husband since the day he left, and my church has prayed weekly, and his platoon hasn't sustained a single injury. every platoon around his has been hit, other men have died, other men have lost limbs, but my husband is safe. and it's because i pray.

God knows everything. he sees everything, hears everything, touches everything. he gave us free will, but he already knows what choices we will make. he allows us to make the wrong decisions, because it's our choice. and EVERYTHING happens for a reason. every moment has a purpose. say what you will about bad things happening, my life has been crap in a way most of you cannot imagine. and it's okay, because God loves me, because God has a plan.

You are being hypocritical. According to what I believe, it would be wrong of me to not tell Charles that what he believes is wrong. You are therefore telling me that what I believe is wrong.
