what first attracted me to the game was the side of the box, being as how that's how it was stored on the shelf and what prompted me to buy the game, were the screen shots and descriptions on the back of the box and after comparing my copy of the box and the original version you posted, imo i feel that the "brown" one looks better then the "white" one, with the almost side on profile of the elf lady as opposed to the frontal view.

 

I remember when the box was going to be white. I followed this game for a LONG time, but just got it recently because I simply don't have money of my own In any case, the new box is more pleasing to the eyes becuase, for one, the damned white is gone. Bright things, such as white, tend to hurt the eyes. The dark color of the new box is very nice, in my opinion.

Also, the new box is basically the same exact thing as the old box, except it is darker, has a side-view of the elf, and the different things are placed in different places. So, basically, the new and the old boxes show the same things about Arcanum, except for the burning forest that's on the new box but not the old. Personally, I think that fits Arcanum's world perfectly, as does the old box, except the old one is WAY too bright, plus the elf's face is at a less-pleasing angle.
