I've never attracted a woman for casual sex, but I'm aware it's an option people can take to satisfy themselves. As I said I fail to believe that people are that loathsome that it's entirely impossible for them to find a girlfriend or someone to have casual sex with, but those who have low enough self esteem to believe this is the truth then fine an argument could be made they are acting instinctively.

I'm not arguing that using sex as currency is of itself perverse, I'm arguing that because men take part in it when it's illegal when there are other alternatives they are visiting a prostitute for perversion. Those who truly perceive themselves as that unlikeable that a prostitute is their "only option", fine maybe they are being instinctive - but to all the others they are willfully committing a crime and so they must be going there for something beyond a normal experience otherwise why run the risk? By the by, I'd say that committing a crime and therefore willfully endangering yourself is also not instinctual.

To clarify I'm not saying that prostitution is perverse, I'm saying that in countries where it's illegal perverts who visit prostitutes are not visiting them purely out of instinctive drive - disbarring those who truly believe a prostitute is their "only option", but really how many people become so pathetic to believe unequivocally this is the truth?

I believe that turning people into merchandise is wrong. Sex, in my oppinion, is an intimate act between two willing people and should not become a commodity for sale.

Also, people who think that these girls choose to become (or remain) prostitutes can eat a bag of dicks. It's a last resort for desperate people in a world where the feminine gender has been turned into something cheap. More often than not, these poor individuals are forced into this either by other people or by poverty.

Prostetution is banned in most of the civilised world for a reason. It should stay that way.

Madal Lil's "100 coins for a girl" vs modern RPGs' tedious romance subplots. I don't think it's hard to understand that for those who simply want some sexings and nothing else, hiring a hooker - while not necessarily the only option - may be the option giving the same result in exchange for the least time, effort and expense. It's simply economical for their schelude and wallet.

    Illegal = perverse?

Well in this case it can also not be thought of as perversion and can be thought of as instinctual, still I doubt many people would be that clinical and those who are would likely care about the legal ramifications.

No this isn't what I mean. I mean that if someone is willing to break the law to have sex (unless they believe it's their only option or they do it because it's convenient) when there are other options available to them it strongly implies they are perverse, because they could have free legal sex through a variety of means. The fact they are doing something illegal to have sex implies they want to do something do they cannot with a regular woman - otherwise why would they break the law needlessly? From this you can also infer that they are after something not entirely instinctual.

As I said in a country or state where it's legal people aren't going to the extreme of breaking the law, and their respective society's may perceive going to a prostitute as acceptable - so it is possible that these people may go for "normal", instinctive sex. Obviously perverts probably go too, but I would think they would be proportionally less than in a country where it's illegal.

For clarity Smuel said men go to prostitutes because they want to scratch that instinctive itch to have sex, I'm saying that in countries where it's illegal a significant number of people won't be visiting a prostitute solely because they want to satisfy this drive - they must want to do something perverted and not instinctual as there is no other reason for them to break the law when they can have sex (if that was all they were after) relatively easily with a woman not of the trade.

Geez, why are there never enough prostitute patrons around to run a straw poll with when you need to answer questions like this?

Jojobobo and his ilk should really come out of their mom's basement once in a while and face the reality of this world. Going to a prostitute is a dangerous "crime"? Jesus Christ. I understand that this is a geek forum, but still...

Instead of typing all these fancy words in the comfort of your basement, how about you get outside with your bros, get wasted and fuck a whore?

    Fuckin' kids 班门弄斧'ing.

You don't really know anything about me so don't make baseless assumptions. And yes, prostitution and visiting a prostitute is a crime in countries where it's illegal - who would have guessed. I never it was a dangerous crime unless you consider getting the clap dangerous.

EDIT: I just thought I'd make it clear I've never once said I'm against perversion or sexual deviancy, for all you know I may have visited a prostitute myself, I was just arguing that going to a prostitute for a lot of people isn't really instinctual and therefore doesn't fit into the umbrella of normal human selfish behaviour.

The legal status of prostitution generally doesn't make much difference to the proportion of men who visit prostitutes. However, you're trying to explain this with the weird argument that where it is legal, normal men go, and where it is illegal, normal men stay away but a different set of men go instead who are perverts and get off on the illegality.

    That's silly.

No where it's legal both go, where it's illegal the same amount of perverts go - the number of perverts who go in a country where it's legal is proportionally less because more people in general go. You've stated that numbers of patrons are similar regardless of legality, presumably per population, so if you do have a reputable source for that i'd accept that I'm wrong - otherwise this for both of us is only conjecture.

I never said that the perversion of perverts who go is that they get off on illegality (though for some it will be, just as people like to sleep with the married because they like to feel like it's taboo), I'm saying perverts go so they can take part in perversions that normal people wouldn't let them do otherwise why break the law? If they want to do something that other people are willing to do than they could just do it without getting a criminal record, so it must be perverted as a normal person would not want a criminal record. I didn't think what I said could be misinterpreted to such an extent, really the whole prostitute thing was more of a side point to what TDC originally brought up anyway.

Yeah. There are a lot of countries (like in the Middle-east) where prostitution is for certain illegal. That is because of religion beliefs.

In the Netherlands you have the Red Light District (as you may know for sure) where you can see them behind the windows. This is to prevent them to do this illegally. Once and a while the police burst in to check if their passports are real or not. Most of the time they are not.

In other countries it is only really illegal, if the girls were forced into the prostitution through violence by loverboys and human smugglers. And what I have heard it is a lot.

I am actually not sure what Drog wants to proof here. That he loves girls who looks like they are really young? Or that he has the money for prostitutes? Or need them to get laid?

Edit: Shorten the post and grammar fixes (I hope)

I believe that selling oranges is wrong. Oranges, in my opinion, are a sacred fruit and should not become an article for barter.

    Suddenly this discussion became Arcanum-relevant.
I agree that prostitution probably isn't the last resort for patrons, simply the surest and simplest one.

Yeah Drog! Jojobobo is expressing his point of view in a very collected fashion. Don't let him get away with that!

I'll review and think on your points and get back to you, Jojobobo.

You assume to prove a point by ridiculing me with an example where you compare humans to oranges? Laughable. You need to rethink your values.

Hey man, I ain't trying to prove nothin'; nor am I comparing anything to anything else; that's just my opinion on oranges; I ain't pretending it makes any sense, matters, or that I'm not a complete fool whose opinions no-one gives a shit about. Nobody gives a fuck about what I personally feel about oranges, and it's not relevant; but ya don't see me shutting up about it just because I'm a stupid asshole.

Seems like we have a bit of a moralist around these parts. I certainly hope your war on sex is more successful than the war on drugs.

Noooonononono, not war on sex, never war on sex. Sex is good. I like sex very much and I hope that other people get their share as well.

But prostetution is another thing. It is wrong. Perhaps not in the sense that we're free to charge people money for sleeping with us (which we are, of course, unless it's illegal), but rather in the way it functions in reality, which is people selling other peoples sexual services for money, or people being forced to sell their own bodies because of poverty or other circumstances. There are few cases where people have become whores simply because they wanted to. Most people who turns to this does so out of desperation or by being forced.

Because it is difficult, probably ridiculously difficult, for any government to see the differance in each and every case of prostetution (being forced or not / in need of help or not), all of it should be outlawed.

So pimping is the problem, not prostitution.
I suddenly want to picket. "PROSECUTE PIMPS, NOT ENTREPRENEURS!" my sign would read.
I get what you're saying Wolfsbane, prostitution is beautiful in theory, but in practice it's exploitative. Many ideas fall victim to this, Communism for instance.

Thinking on prostitution, why does it exist?
In my mind it shouldn't because a prostitute has nothing to offer that any member of the same sex doesn't also have to offer. Despite its importance, water is undervalued because of its abundance. Likewise with sex and prostitution in turn, I would think.

However prostitution does exist so there must be a reason for this. Do you supposed it would exist in more abundance if prostitutes were held in higher regard?
I happen to think so, but that begs the question of why aren't prostitutes more respected?
I would guess that this ties in with why sex should be so abundant that it should be without value. Virtually anybody of the proper age can provide sex for another person. As this is the case, maybe prostitutes are disrespected for having no other worthy skill or attribute by which to make a living and contribute to society. They are providing a service that is not needed because nearly everybody can provide that service.

But relatively few provide that service, so what gives!?
