Gilbert Bates and The Isle of Despair

Greetings, my name is Slaughter. This is my second Arcanum run and my first post here, and I'm playing as a necromancess. I sold Bates' jornal to Adric Apleby and he has gone out of the city. Not only that, but he sent people after me. Now, the question is:

There's some other way to go to The Isle of Despair? From what I remember, Edward Teach only sailed to there on Bates' orders, but since Bates is angry with me, I believe he's not going to let me. So... Will I find Bates again? And how I can go to the Isle of Despair? There's some other way to sail with Teach?
