I enjoy that, too, and I've always liked RPGs that employ a level of forced inconvenience on the player to make the experience real. I don't mean a clunky interface, of course, but something more along the lines of extra wear required in extremely cold climates, or an occasional bout of disease.

Of course, something like this can be taken to extremes, as in the endless cries of "I'm hungry!" and "I need food!" from your party in Ultima VII. (They actually never needed food; they could do without. But they screamed for it every few seconds once their internal food clocks ran out.) In Arcanum's case, while I do enjoy the physical travel, after a while it can get repetitive, and it's nice to be able to quickly poof back to your stash location. ;)

So,the effect of a spell or how powerful a pell can be is determined by the mana you have?If it does, which factor determing the power of a spell? The current mana or the max mana you have?Does willpower have anything to do with the power of a spell ,or just be a limit you have to meet to learn high level spell. Then i think my mage will boost up con.

Not mana, magick aptitude. Knowing more spells, being of elven heritage etc etc gives you more of it.

First of all, welcome to the forums! :wavey:
Secondly, this thread is oves 4 years old.Int the future start new threads instead of gravedigging ones being such old (using the search button to find answer for your questions first, of course).
Now, for your question - None of those actually. The power of the spells is determined by your MA (Magic Aptitude). You start with 0 and you can get to 100, with 5 points for every learned spell (elves start with 15, half elves with 5, there is also a background effecting it). Willpower lets you get a bit of fatigue and makes higher level spells possible to be learned. Also willpower 20 (only two points higher than needed for fifth level spells) makes you immume to some nasty spells. Constitution gives you more fatigue than willpower and increases the rate of fatigue that you regerate. Intelligence however determines how much spells can you maintain at one moment.

O,i dont notice it is a grave.Take care next time.
Thanks, i mistake the MA to mana. How stupid i am.
So from what you say, will 20 is enough. And i can boost the con along.
But for dodge master dex is a option. And for some social skill cha is a option too.

You need 18 willpower to be able to learn the best spells. And since every 20 in a stat gives bonuses, even if they're aren't that useful it have RPG values to have them. If you're a mage and you use a variety of spells, you can see when a hostile mage has willpower 20, some great spells just don't work on him. And while a player himself can get along without that immunity, it gives some satisfaction when you can say "I can do that toooo!".
Also, if you're going for dodge master, remember to not stop at dex 18 (speed 18 ) but go for 20 (speed 25), cos it does make a diffrence.
