I used to work in a bar a while back. I was flat broke and desperately needed the job, but you had to wear a uniform. The only uniform small enough to fit me was a female one which was the same colour and type, but had a different cut to the male uniform (and I DIDN'T wear the skirt! ). Add to that the fact that I had long hair (I could sit on it at one point).

I got GREAT tips, but I was constantly mistaken for a girl (and a pretty one at that mind you - from the back at least). After loads of rather hastily retracted offers for... various things... I left the job in the end when some old, fat Manchunian bloke who'd had too much was desperately trying to get me to agree to a shag - publicly.

It was all way to embarrassing. The rest of the staff thought it was very funny though. Oh so veeeeery funny... :x

Anyway, I digress. It SUCKS to be mistaken (constantly) for the wrong sex. Mind you.... the tips WERE good.... :lol:

It is probably my name that confused some people. The 'Phoenix' for some reason has been portrayed fairly often in fantasy as female even though in mythology it was always male. Of course, X-Men didn't help with that havin Jean Gray become the Phoenix. Lol, Ferret, you actually got much better tips? People would have to be blind to mistake me for a girl (or very drunk). I am taller than just about any woman I have ever met, and I have short hair. So I wouldn't get the good tips :lol:

And yes. I got tips way better than the other men there. Comapratively, the men would get 50p per day, I would get £3 per day and the 'other' women would get £3.50 per day!

Phoenix, I was just shittin' ya. I don't think it is a girl's name. It reminds me of the Protoss on StarCraft, and all but the Matrinoch(sp?) are boys, that you actually see.

 

For all practical purposes, you only really need it to work properly for the few members of your "mod team", and if they're too lazy to use anything but what Microsoft included in their OS then you're home free. You do know that Netscape and Mozilla use the same Gecko layout engine, don't you? (Actually I'd like to use Firebird but it doesn't seem to have a mail client yet, bah.)

No, I didn't know that. Thanks for enlightening me. I am using the current design because everyone complained of the old taking forever to load. Now, if I also took away those animations, everyone would complain that is to too plain and dull. I've got to look at what the majority would want, but I may stop it if enough people agree.

 

Hmm, I did a paper on the Phoenix for English class and my source said it was always male. And nowhere did I find something that said it laid eggs. The next Phoenix would rise from the ashes. Of course there are a ton of different myths involving the Phoenix in different cultures so it could change depending on which you were looking at. Oh well, I got it from a game where the guy was nicknamed Phoenix (Starsiege) so I don't guess it matters either way. I am a guy, and I am the Phoenix, so this Phoenix is male

There are actually a fair number of species that can change their sex. They all depend on the relative number of male:females though. This results in a hormonal/pheremonal inbalance and it triggers the gender change of one or more of the the dominant sex.

Usually it is the females that outlive the males in such populations, for whatever reasons, and the change only usually occurs upon the continued lack of presence of the other gender. Even then, only one or two usually change sex, because the single change can equalise the testosterone/oestrogen balance.

I've only seen the phoenix called a male and an "it". According to Herodotus, it didn't lay an egg; after being born from its father's ashes it created an egg out of myrrh. It then encased its father's body inside the egg, and carried him to a temple or something in Egypt.

I haven't actually read anything about the phoenix being female or laying eggs, but of course that doesn't mean there's a story out there somewhere like that which I haven't heard about.

i go to torrance high school, in torrance california, i live in redondo beach, and my area code is 90277, i got to torrance because even though i've got my toes in redondo the rest of my feet are still in the torrance school district... ok, now you may have seen my schools in movies like, "shes all that", parts of "not another teen movie" and school scenes in the "buffy the vampire slayer" tv series, and i have met this slut you guys seem to think attractive, and i must say that i have observed her at one or two of the filmings and i have come to the conclusion that she possesses (whoops) no character traits other than snobbery, bitchiness, and a waspish air of superiority (as in she seemed to think that all of the students were clothed in rags, and that she must be nothing less than a god to us) (also waspish= adjective of the noun wasp which is an acronym for White Anglo Saxon Protestants and basically means a person who thinks she is superior to everyone that isnt the member of a country club)

i'm basically ashamed to be a part of this thread, shes a bitch in real life and probably wouldn't give you the time of day (literally)
