Half ogre or dwarven for me.
With half ogre, you can be a crazed battle mage with the dog at your side. As a dwarf, you get a beard.

 

*casts Black Necromancy on the thread because she was fucking DEAD, dammit*

If you don't want to be too persuasive but want to be a magic whore, nothing tops Only Child.

And Debutante is fucking AWESOME with a half-elf if you're going the negotiator path.
