I have a GTX 295 nVIDIA video card (it looks more like a brick than a card). It can't fit my XFX motherboard model: MG-63MI-7059 2.0 which I think has a PCI slot v1.0. I mean the slot is the right size, but several motherboard capacitors are in the way. You cannot press the GTX295 into the slot because you will have to bend (and potentially damage) several capacitors. Some capacitors are directly on top of the card. There's even a copper coil in the way.

I have a feeling that any PCI v2.0 motherboard can fit the GTX 295.

Am I right?

My setup is currently:

CPU: Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz
motherboard: XFX model: MG-63MI-7059 2.0
RAM: DDR2

Err, by PCI do you mean PCI-E? PCI-E isn't compatible with the standard PCI bus as I understand it; PCI just wouldn't provide enough bandwidth for such a card...

Erf...ugh, yeah...sheesh can't believe I didn't put PCI-E.

Yes, it is PCI-E v1.0

It depends entirely on the design of the motherboard. Most decent brands will avoid putting large things in the way of long graphics cards these days.

PCI-E 1.0 and PCI-E 2.0 are 100% backwards compatible, the latter just has double the bandwidth, which is a good idea for a GTX295.

I see you posted over at Comodo and got much the same response though.

Wow, you've seen my post in COMODO eh? That's neat!

Anyways, yeah, you've stated my dilemma quite well.

Not only do I have to get a new motherboard that will fit the GTX295, I'd also would like to get the cheapest motherboard that will fit the GTX295.

I've spent so much for this video card already; not only did I have to buy the vcard itself, but I had to buy a kick-ass power supply unit as well (I got the HEC Cougar 1Kwatts).

I do not wish to spend so much on the motherboard, if that is possible.

Will the Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2C fit the GTX295? Its not a fancy board, but then again I don't care. As long as it can unite my CPU, RAM, and Videocard together and it works, that is fine with me.

...Who are all of you, and why're you on my forum? o_O

Also, of the many places you could come for advice on technology, why here?

That's short for "Marvelous at finding technological slaves".
