The thing that makes humans special from an animal point of view. We have no natural ways of defending us exept that we have adrinalin kicks from time to time. The things we do have is the ability to learn from mistakes, and that we use tools to defend us. All other animals have some other things to deffend themselves, like talons, horns and bad smell ect ect.

The reason that we don't have any natural defences, is because we don't NEED them. That's because we CAN use tools. It's this little thing called evolution....

Well, point number two why humans aren't that great: we always insult and let each other down like that. If we worked together, we would be ten times as smart/good/kind.

That's not an insult. It's coming from someone in Brisbane, a bigger hole than Adelaide ever will be.

By the way, Menion Ravenlock, I sent you a PM. I hope everything's okay.

Actually, we would probably be extinct. This world thrives on strife and conflict. Animals hunt and eat other animals for nourishment. Some kill off the weak to make the group stronger. I'm sure there are more examples, but I can't think right now. Life is a constant struggle to survive. Through conflict, through making mistakes and learning from them, the species grows stronger. Survival of the fittest.

What is it with young teenagers? They seem to think all the world's problems can be solved with love, peace and all that crap. Some can be, but you're a fool if you believe that no solution will require physical force at some point. You're not the only person I've heard expressing this sort of view, nbrosz, which is the only reason I mention it.

Most interesting. Thread about aliens to thread about arguing about humans. Now, I'll tell you, humans are just another race. Nothing to argue about. You're a human, I'm a human, and everyone on this forum is a human (except DU). Now, humans may be dumb at some points, but at others times they are pretty smart. Einstein, he was smart science wise, probably dumb some other ways. Some people think Hitler was dumb, but he was actually pretty smart.

You are all trying to wonder where I'm going here. Well, I'm trying to say that every human is different, as with animals. Everything is different in this world. There are no two humans that are alike, not even identical twins. Everything thinks differently, even lovers fight. Humans are smart, just not ALWAYS smart. You could be a retard, and still be pretty smart. You get smart by LIVING, which is why we respect out elders. You do not get smart by reading books or anything.

I don't think I made much sense, but I tried to explain. Yeah, a lot of people will try to explain an opposite to what I said. But everyone’s opinion is different, this is what I think, others think differently.

Hitler wasn't dumb - he was many things, but dumb was not one of them. Certainly smarter than the average Joe. It does take some smarts, after all, to rise to the head of a political party, and then rise to the head of government in only ten years. He was a master politician, orator and a good artist as long as he stuck to drawing buildings and the like. Couldn't draw people, and failed the entrance exam to the art university in Vienna twice.

Had quite a life, that Hitler.

He also belived that he would kick stalins arse by desember1940 Therfore he gave order to nit ditrebute winter uniforms to german soldiers when the winter came= stupid. Hitler told the 4 arme that they were to stay in stalingrad, and lost several hundred thousand soldiers= stupid.
Hitler was a nutcase who managed to use all the hate after the first war to start another one. And i refuse to belive that he was a genius, he had charisma, brutality and a lot of luck and anyone can get far with that.

Hitler did some things wrong but some he did good to if you look at it. If he didn't come to power in Germany than Germany would be just a total dump. He made Germany's Military alot better than it was and lots more.

What Hitler did made Germany a total backwater for a number of years. His coming made Germany a total dump. (After they lost WW II) It wasn't for awhile after that Germany recovered from Hitler's reign. Besides, the German army was decimated and I'm certain that took a long time to rebuild. So, no, I wouldn't say that he did good in Germany.

    First:
    ... and then:
    No, you didn't.

Yes. Stupid. Instead of continuing to move his army through the area he was winning, he made the entire army take a detour for a couple of months so that they could capture Stalingrad, his opponents city name-sake. During that time, Russia had the fastest military build-up anyone's ever seen.

Actually, Hitler helped the country after WWI. It was after that that Germany was really in a hole. Every other country invaded by Germany in WWI was demanding compensation, driving Germany bankrupt. Inflation went through the roof and the place was generally falling apart. Hitler's military build-up got the economy kicked off again. Wars = Good Economy. Lots of death, but good economy.

What I mean was, whatever good he did, it didn't last. Although he helped kick start the economy after the rampant inflation from post WW I reparations, when Germany lost, it was back to reparations and being a dump. However much good he did, it was temporary and they were in an even bigger hole after him... so the good he did for the economy was offset by the fact that after Germany lost, it was in an even bigger mess than it had been in before. Which was kind of his fault.

You know what Snowmane? He's right.

After the Versailles Treaty of 1919, Germany was left ruined. Their military was severely limited, their industries were limited, and they had to pay huge reparations. Imagine it along the lines of your parents making you pay for something you break but also taking away all your money. That's the sort of position Germany was in.

Then Hitler comes along. The Weimar Republic was a dismal failure, and Hitler worked his way into power with some pretty good promises, and he actually stuck to most of them. Defying the Versailles Treaty, he rebuilt the military and the industrial zones. Some of his ideas were crazy, no doubt about it, but he got things done for the people he represented, and they loved him for it. Someone was standing up for German pride.

Of course, the rest of the world was getting a little concerned about Hitler flaunting his breaking of the treaty, but they also figured they could contain Germany. Eventually, good ole Neville Chamberlain went to Germany and got Hitler's signed promise not to attack Europe. The policy of appeasement had started around this time. So when Hitler invaded Poland, no one wanted to stop him. The war was actually on for a year before England and the other powers at the time decided to actually do something about it, and what they did was lose. England was pushed back to Dunkirk, where a German military blunder saved them from losing what would have been their entire European army. France was lost, Eastern Europe was lost, and Russia was allied with Germany. Then it all fell apart for Hitler when he decided to attack Russia, which had been his plan all along. He just chose a really bad time to do it. From then on, he was destined to lose.

Hitler himself was someone you could look up to as a role model, until you learned about his screwed up mind. He had an excellent short term memory, was a great orator and politician (regularly whipped crowds into frenzies of German pride) and he didn't take a salary when he was in power. Instead, he lived off royalties of his book Mein Kampf, which he wrote when he was in prison before he came to power. It was a short stay, and an easy one, but he was still there. In effect, he did great things for Germany, but only if you were a non-Jewish German. Anyone else, he lied to, because they were inferior to him.

I know the history, but I guess that the thing I'm trying to say isn't coming out quite how I want it. After WW I, Germany was in the pits, yes, and Hitler made everybody happy. He made a big army, etc. However, after his regime toppled, all the things that he did became undone. The army was totally crushed, and all his 'good' for Germany, which included in his mind eliminating lesser people, made Germany a huge backwater. And very hated as well. So purifying the Germans really backfired, and all the good he did either made his fellow Germans hated by pretty much the whole world, and the economy which he helped boost also toppled as it did after WW I. Germany's charasmatic leader put them into an even bigger mess than he helped get them out of. Does that make sense? Or does that make sense only to me?

    Snowmane, the problem is...

Snowmane, the problem with your argument is that you are wrong. Soon after WWII, Germany was not NEARLY as bad off as it was soon after WWI. The world had realized this neat thing, punishing the loser was a BAD idea, they realized that it caused more wars, so we did this neat thing called rebuilding Germany. Germany was a stronger country after World War 2 than when Hitler came to power. Hitler brought it back together after it had been demolished after The Great War.

I am not saying that Hitler was good, I am saying that Germany needed a strong leader to pull it out of its horrible state after The Great War. Hitler happened to be this strong leader

Interestingly enough, Germany was better off after World War 2 than during the Weimar Republic.

    Re: Snowmane, the problem is...

    1. After WWII is still after WWI, amazingly enough
    2. Immediately after WWII, Germany was economically crushed and covered with dead bodies. Yeah, better off. Sure.
    3. It got stronger after WWII, yes, but that took time. It's not one of the things you can say Hitler did.
    4. How the Hell does a country get to be "faster", anyway?
    5. And finally, I believe the Nazis would tell you that it was better just before WWII than after it.
