You've both got it wrong. It's simply a corruption of the statement from the first father and son combination, Adam and Adam's son (I don't know his name). It was just "You can do it", when encouraging his son to walk, and suddenly people all over the world are translating it incorrectly into all sorts of different languages (thank you very much, Tower of Babel) and each generation, era and language has warped it that little bit more than the last.
