Hey guys, i have searched everywhere, including this website. I was able to find vormantown.dat, one of the missing files in Arcanum. I cannot find, however, Arcanum3.dat, which i believe is preventing me from playing. Whenever i turn on the game, it goes black, shows the train loading screen and then crashes. I know there have been a lot of posts about this, but specifically, can anyone point me in the direction of a mirror for Arcanum3.dat?

I actually encountered the same problem, the same .dat files were not only missing, but had disappeared from the CD (Don't ask because I don't know how it happened) luckilly it turned out I'd made an archive copy from which I could reinstall.

I really don't see how files could disappear from a write-proof CD.

Thats why I said don't ask, I really have no idea how it could happen. I wouldn't have believed that it could happen if it hadn't happened to me.

What if the CD was exposed to excessive heat or a magnetic field?

I know! What if the Earth's polarity reversed and nobody noticed but your disk!

What happens if you do a complete uninstall/reinstall?

I could uninstall using the disks and I could run the game but if I tried to install it some of the .dat files were missing, so I had to install them from the archive copy and then run the game with the faulty CD's. However I have since bought a new set so it is no longer an issue. I might have the old ones lying around somewhere back home but I'm at Uni for the forseeable future so I can't look at the moment.

    [EDIT]

I suppose I could always try some of these ideas, I don't think its scratches, but it couldn't hurt: Fix Arcanum CD

Try the mystery of the file that attacks your CD drive.

If your drive reads the files for too long, it overheats the stops working.
