    Hey guys, I've been working on a Arcanum mod with my friend, and I've run into a little problem. When I try to run the world editor, it lags terribly, and it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to do anything! Switching between Isometric and top down view, Trying to create new buildings, pretty much everything. I have a decent gaming computer, and the specs are as following;

    Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX+

    8 GB of RAM

AMD 9600 2.3 GHZ quad core

Any help would be VERY appreciated!!

    Thanks!

Known problem on Vista/7. No known way to fix. Deal with it, etc.

I am running windows 7 64 bit. I am working with Xayvong on the bigots and hypocrites mod, and his worlded works flawlessly on his computer. He is running windows 7 as well. sorry for the lack of info, was pretty tired when i first posted lol.

Update: I have installed the unofficial patch found in the downloads section on this site, and it seems to have significantly improved the worlded's performance, yet there is still some lag. any tips guys?

I know it seems like people haven't been very supportive, but honestly Drog is the authority on this game. If neither he nor another modder has stepped in with a solution, I doubt there is one. I would say your best bet might just be to find a computer with an older OS (or maybe an emulator of an older OS might work - I'm hardly an authority on these things) and give it a try on that. Sorry no ones been more constructive in helping you with your problem!

Him and Rroyo, yes. However, this isn't about the game.

Not a problem. Again, with my question: which version of W7 do you have? Starter, Home, Home Premium, Pro, Enterprise?

So. Here's my solution for you, and one I think will work wonderfully. Download Virtual PC with XP Mode, and run WorldEd in a mini XP environment. We use it at work for supporting older software. If you run into any snags, let me know. :)

Darkfool, I installed virtual PC XP mode, and installed Arcanum on the virtual PC, however now my problem is when I run the game, or the worlded, it says An error has accured before they even have a chance to start up, my PC really doesn't like Arcanum for some reason

I may have another answer - if you haven't tried before.

find your Arcanum.exe and WorldEd.exe, right-click them and
go to properties - choose Compatibility section and there you
can check the option to run the program compatible with:

... you have there possibly all the Windowses... from Windows 95 to Vista... try to choose XP. Maybe it'll help somehow.

Gildorn, I just tried running in compatibility mode, and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Shit, man, it doesn't work. IT JUST DOESN'T. There's no known solution, except for going back to Windows XP. Is it that hard to believe?

Why the fuck do I even bother answering this kind of questions. Nobody fuckin' listens.

Maybe someone should mod the modding tool! Not that I'd have any clue on how to go about such a thing.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies, I have done some looking around and have considered trying a dual boot of XP and 7. I think this would be my best bet. I will post back with my results. Thanks again for the suggestions guys. :)

It's strange, we can't figure out why Worlded runs like complete crap on his computer. His computer is a beast compared to mine, yet I have no lag, and it runs wonderfully on my computer. Which is a laptop with decent specs, go figure.

I'm running windows 7 home premium, and I'm starting to think that maybe it has something to do with how the program uses the computer's resources.

Anyone know how to figure something like this out? Maybe we can find what makes Worlded run like a charm, or what makes it run like shit.
