What's up with the colored stat numbers?

One thing I can say about Arcanum so far: the players manual is awful. Can anyone help me answer some questions?

    1. Why are some of my characters vital statistics colord red, others green, and others not at all?? Does this mean they've been artificially raised or lowered without my knowing about it?

    2. I got a "blessing" from Torg at his alter, but I can't see that it has changed anything for me - no new fate point, nothing. What's up?

    3. Is there another source of information on spells and magical items than the paltry amount displayed in the window when we mouse over a scroll or item? Any way know how MUCH shadow robes improve prowling sbility, or how LONG a given spell lasts? Current info is painfully inadequate.

    4. Why is it that every time I place a weapon - any kind of weapon - in a follower's inventory, it immediately replaces the weapon he's currently weilding? I have auto-switch weapons turned off. How do I ask any of them to simply HOLD a weapon without it replacing the one I want them to use?

red means something is decreasing them, helmets do that alot ot perception, green means something is boosting them, no colour means they are normal:)

A stat should have increased for Torg. Some stats should show green and some skills should have increased. green means that it is modified in a positive manner, no color means it is not modified, and red means it has decreased.

Unfortunately, what the NPC thinks is the "better weapon" isn't always what you (the player) believes is the better weapon.

To add my 2 cents to that NPCs will sometimes choose a better weapon even though they don't meet strength requirement.

Since question #3 is the only one unanswered so far, I will attempt that one.
    NO!

Torg raises constitution by 1 point. It does nothing else that I have read or noticied.

It's a good idea to follow the Arcanum Gods quest in order (see walkthrough). Mistakes can lead to curses instead of blessings.

Yes, the manual is awful. I wonder if anyone over at Troika have heard of a thing called an 'Index'. Or even 'Contents' page.

Yep, red something is adversely affecting it, (as in when a Helmet decreases perception). Green something is boosting it (as in a blessing or item). Normal means they are normal.

Yeah, do this in order, otherwise one blessing can counter another blessing or you screw it up and get cursed and blah blah blah. On the main site http://www.terra-arcanum.com, there is an explanation and what the god quest gives you.

Check out the Arcanum web-sites. A few of them might have some more useful info on the spells and their effects.

Heh.... Short answer, don't give your NPCs' ANY weapons whatsoever. Instead, make them lug around the armour, books and other stuff. Sometimes you get lucky and can give them a weapon they won't auto-equip. If so, be grateful

And welcome to the forum! :wavey:
