What skill does the Tesla Rod use?

Planning a character for the first time and I'm thinking Firearms, Gunsmith, and Electricity. Going for a Sickly mad scientist type who's better with the tech than the guns, but eventually learns to be an expert with firearms too.

The Tesla Rod sounds nifty. Does it use Firearms?

 

Indeed it does.

 

actually the Tesla rod is a melee weapon. If you want a shocking gun then combine the the Tesla gun with the looking-glass rifle.

 

Shocky gun is fun

 

personally my favorite gun is the long range pistol, then the elephant gun, and the tranquilizer gun. I'll fatigue them, exit combat and let my followers finish raping them without any resistance.

 

Bollocks. The Tesla Rod shoots balls of lightning, for crying out loud. By using logic alone one could dare to state that it has more in common with a firearm than a melee weapon. Yet logic is one thing, while the other is the fact, that I actually checked it in-game before writing the first post and indeed the Rod's combat efficiency was proportional to the user's Firearms skill and independent of the Melee skill. My guess is that you're confusing the Tesla Rod with the Shocking Staff, Haseo.
