I have a wedding to go to in Mexico in a few weeks. Might not be going after all it would seem.

Well, the virus can indeed mutate into something that can withstand the most of the vaccines, penicillin, and antidotes. The other problem could be that it will be become some virus not known as first as a really deadly disease. So it looks like a normal flu, but it is twice as deadly.

PS: The facts of this virus:

The optimism in here inspires within me new senses of enlightenment and joy.

Optomism is for the weak. Being cynical pessimists means that we're never caught off-guard when things go to shit.

Either you're proven right or things are better than expected. Sometimes you get blind-sided by a catastrophe you weren't considering though. And two-thirds of cynical pessimists require bile transplants before age 40.

Ah, I do so love watching my local newpaper having kittens over this. Eight mother-fucking pages, which contain about as much information as the back of a milk carton. Whee. I just wanted the fucking TV guide...

This is why newspapers are a dying medium.

Unfortunately, in Tasmania, they're still the only reliable way to get the free-to-air TV guide.

I've given up on tv back in 2006. Honestly, why bother ? There's better stuff streamed for free on the net, better quality, in wide enough variety to even suit my tastes. And that's when considering only the legal channels.

TV on the other hand is just bullshit mixed with reruns of crappy shows and even crappier regional shows. And sometimes an old movie, interrupted by ads every 15 minutes, with 'informational' overlays popping up even more often. Not to mention the horrors of the in-your-face modern pop culture that producers embed wherever possible nowadays. Even the news stations pale in comparison with what the net has to offer.

Damn. People who share my standpoint on the optimism/pessimism front, of all things. To the point of being able to match my view exactly. It tends only to be people who have too much time to think that come to these conclusions, and I've had way too much time to think. Difference is that I've never thought about how to justify a lack of optimism, simply how to justify an abundance of pessimism.

I'm well aware of the results of such. From pleasant surprise to being proven right.

I've given up on most forms of media these days though. Ever since I had a girlfriend who watched TV all the time. I never did find out whether she was naturally a bimbo, or if TV killed her brain. She didn't seem to appreciate it when I asked.

Trust me, spend something like three years recuperating from a particularly nasty illness, you'll have plenty of time to think. It took me about a month to realize where I lie. Paradoxically, I'm much happier now.

It is just better to be cynical, then to be optimistic about things that not likely going to happen.

The disease is already spreading indeed, for it is now in the US as well.

Ouch. I've spent two years in a downward spiral, confined by a degree of illness myself, likely very different, but I can relate (somewhat). But yes, times like that often result in a lot of reflection. It teaches you good deal of awareness and to think for yourself. Or maybe I'm talking crap. Regardless, I will admit that for the last few years I've been waiting to see the next detrimental misstep taken by the world. Outbreaks such as this are complicated territory though. There's no one in particular to blame and it takes victims rather than enemies.

Oh well. This is what escapism is for. I do so hate disillusionment, and the media. I've lost faith in them so don't seem to care when something potentially serious happens. Sad, really.

Anyway...glad you're doing better now though, Xiao.

First, it is good to hear, that everything is all right with you. I spend and needed three years to recover from the addictions of mine. Therefore, in that time, I had to think all over how I would spend the rest of my life. Now I am clean for many years.

A lot of Speed and Coke, and I had an alcohol problem as well. I did become clean all by myself. That was hard, but after that, I did feel all lot better.
