For the early game: - Worn boots are sold for less than 10 gp and not 70+. You can usually find them in trash cans. For the late game: - Pyrotechnic Axe is a tech weapon (because everyone uses pyrotechnic axes... ) There're probably a lot more statistic changes for other items, but these are the only ones I've encountered so far.
Another way to be patched would be to open up your Arcanum folder and open up the text document labelled "PatchReadme". If the top line reads "1.0.7.4" then it's pretty allright with you. I mean, would be faster than loading up the game and sell some boots...
Not so. I have had that read 1.0.7.4 & the patch had not taken. Easiest way to tell if the patch applied itself properly. Does the right click inventory transfer work? And you can find that out in the company store. no need to even have a game started.
The question here Rane wasn't if you should get the patch or not - of course a patched game will run better than an unpatched one. What ZirePhoenix brought up here was a way to check if the patch you just downloaded and installed would really "catch" with the game. I wrongly asumed that you only would need to check your PatchReadme file, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Appearently, the PatchReadme could say that you have version 1.0.7.4 while you're in fact standing there, excuse the expression, with the arse bare. After the patch has been installed, one might want to check using ZirePhoenixs' method. If the game fails that test, then one might consider reinstalling the patch.
Patch Ok then - Dark Elf, do you know where I can download an Un-Official patch & hacked items etc.. (because you seem to know everything ) Thanks
Rane, I don't know everything. There are much things I don't know a squat about. Now, Shadygrove is a completely different thing - but as for your question... There's actually a special section for that here at the Terra-Arcanum site. Here's the link: http://www.terra-arcanum.com/council/articles/hackmod/ Peace Dark Elf
You could also check Looking Glass rifle. If it's an awesome 40-40 damage you aren't patched. And if a Pyro Axe only needs a Feather-weight Axe and Fuel, as opposed to the axe and Fire Obstruction, I think, then you are unpatched. Any weird bugs that no one can explain are also a good indication.
Open in explorer the folder that arcanum.exe exists. Then search for arcanum4.dat If it exists then you are patched. If it does not exists then you probably are NOT patched.
Out of curiosity, do the dialogue (and other, I suppose) files in Arcanum4 override the dialogue files in Arcanum2? So, in theory, if I wanted to mess with anyone's dialogue, I should use the version in Arcanum4 if one exists there?
Well, I would assume it works just like when you enter information into any of the files in mes or rules. First it takes the information from Arcanum 1. Then 2. 2 overwrites 1, but if 1 has info unduplicated by 2 it isn't affected. Ex. there are certaing graphics in 1. If 2 doesn't have them, they stay, but if 2 has a different form, then they are updated to 2's version. Then the same happens with 3, then 4, then 5. Then the customizable ones from the data folder are entered. So basically, yes. I am a little unsure about alot of the crap I just said, it's just my assumption that's the way it works, if anyone knows something different, please enlighten me.
