Using found schematics with no expertise

Apparently the technical manuals give you Expertise based on your Int at the time they entered your inventory, not at the time you're actually crafting from a Schematic. So you could craft any Found Schematic cheaper with Essence of Intellect, even with no Expertise and mediocre Int, with a maximum of 9 manuals.

Even if you have a Strength of 1, you could do this; just get a companion to hold the manuals and components and go to the bar. Use an Essense of Intellect and take back as many manuals as you can carry in a balanced load; if it's an odd number, get one more of the Discipline that has a higher requirement for the Schematic. Take a drink and you'll be able to carry 2-3 more manuals for each point of Str increased. Your Int will go down, but you'll still have the Expertise you had when you first loaded up on them. Take some more manuals, again balancing the load between the Disciplines, and your Expertise will rise at that reduced rate. Repeat as necessary to get as many manuals as you need to use the Schematic before taking the components.
