Car Arcanum is nice and all, but there are certain things of the old Arcanum I miss, plus I would like to try out Vormantown (and personally, I think it's rather silly to be able to buy an über gun from a wild merchant when the ancient civilizations were supposedly so much better than 'modern developments'). However, uninstalling Chris' mod, as wonderful as it is (minus the language problems), has proven a most difficult task, as while Chris took much pain and trouble to facilitate installation, he has offered little in the way of uninstalling it. I have tried deleting/moving these files:

    Arcanum5.dat
    Arcanum.PATCH1 or w/e
    Arcanum.PATCH0
    data/proto folder

I have also tried using the 'repair' feature on the install CD, and have tried copying Arcanum.dat/Vormantown.dat from the CD files. It does not appear that the mod made changes to Arcanum1-4.dat or tig.dat (same exact file size, time modified as CD files). Currently, I have managed to restore basic Arcanum landscape (e.g. where the water is), but all the new creatures/chests are still there, albeit unnamed, as well as nameless new items in Virgil and unnamed Althea's inventories and increased levels. Is there any way to get back the old Arcanum without uninstalling the entire game? And by the way, if anyone could answer my other Car Arcanum questions, please do so. Note: I do not have enough free space to make a copy of Arcanum.

Post Script: I am aware English is not Chris' first language. This makes the errors understandable, but I think Chris could have had it proofread by another native speaker at the least.

First to the p.s., Chris knows he's awesome and should know that quite a few english speakers on the board would be willing to proof his work.

I never used many hacks, I do believe that if you delete all of the mes files, and all the other editted files, in your data folder you can remove all the hacks you've made. The core Arcanum files are all locked in the dats, your data folder just supercedes it when a file name in there, usually the edited one, matches file name in the dat. So deleting all those files should serve as a catchall for returning to original Arcanum without risking reinstalling the game.
