    Who'd have thought it?

    USA 2 Mexico 0

I didn't watch it (7.30 am, am I going to get out of bed to watch football match? No) but apparently the Mexicans were incredibly dirty when they started to lose. One guy got a red card after head-butting someone, and they had several yellows.

    Next stop - Germany.

England thrashed Denmark on Saturday, for those of you who didn't know. We have to play the winner of today's Brazil-Belgium match. Everyone is already assuming we'll be playing Brazil. I hate it when teams get written off before the match, so I hope Belgium win.

That's a well-put-together page, Tzehoong. Your publication board is doing a great job. Update your match schedule, though.

The best thing about the match was those were quality goals by the U.S. The 2nd one was a beautiful cross and header. My god has the U.S. finaly learned how to play soccer? Brazil won also 2-0. The 2nd goal was a quintissential Brazil goal. Sort of a modified bicycle kick.

Belgium also scored - unfortunately the judge was blind.

Watch out for Senegal, they can run, and they can score, not team players, but I think they may be able to overcome Brazil. I'll have to see.

BTW, many people are saying that the U.S bribed a couple Mexican players to play weakly, I'm not sure about this, but there is a possibility.

I have to agree with the Sheriff..... That's a nice page. Good Flash banner, I presume you made that? Nice, clean and well laid out.

Out of curiosity, do you know anything about the advanced Flash stuff? All those other things that let you add in Video to a Flash presentation and so on?

haha...thanks. bout the match schedules, well it's test week now and i'm not up to pressuring anyone to do work. i don't know the advanced side of Flash - actually this is only my 2nd attempt at creating something with it -but i'll learn sometime in the future - in fact i just learnt html two weeks ago - it's so ..argh..prim and proper.

I'm sure anyone who has had to crop their beautiful designs just so that all the people using 800x600 instead of 1024x720 could see them would agree...

Anyway, IMHO in every World Cup there are allegations of bribery - i mostly put it down to dissatisfaction from the fans.

threedogs, yeah, brazil's half-overhead-kick goal was superb (see, I can talk football even though I hate it :) ).

Tell me about it. Everytime I go to those w3schools stat pages I was talking about with DU, I screw my eyes up tight and wish for 1024*768 to have made huge gains. It never seems to, though. Half the people in the (internet) world are still firmly attached to low res surfing.

If only everyone felt the same. Half of the programming in the earlier browsers was aimed at cleverly interpreting badly formed HTML. Needless to say, this only encouraged people to pat even less attention to well-formedness rules. Now we have XHTML, which thankfully inherits the rigid well-formedness rules of XML.

    W3Schools browser stats page

For a web expertise site, they have surprsingly obtuse navigation. Everything else about the site is great, though

    It's called offside.

I know you're only saying that because you like Ireland and don't support Spain.

I'd like Senegal to go through to the finals, but I'm not sure who they're playing. South Korea also beat Italy, which is a surprise.

Oh yeah, Vyass, this just in - an invisible, silent UFO flew over my house last night. I didn't see it, I didn't hear it, but it was there!

Same reason USA were not playing at their best when Poland beat them 3-1: they had an off day and the opposing team made them pay for it.

Why? It wasn't any one of your Three dogs that got kicked....

Well, anyway, Malacca - if you don't already know - is one of the states in Malaysia. It's called the "Historical State" as it features most prominently in Malaysian history.

Legend has it that the founder of Malacca, Parameswara, was resting under a tree one day. BTW, he had not founded Malacca yet - he was on the run, a royal fugitive from Indonesia. A scene caught his attention : a deer was being chased by one of his hunting dogs. After some distance the brave deer turned around and (smartly) kicked the dog on its nose (not its butt, I just say so for humour). The dog ran off, yelping.

The scene really impressed this here Parameswara, and took it as a good omen. He decided then and there that he would establish his kingdom at that very spot. He asked his followers the named of the tree he had been resting under, to which they replied "Melaka". (That's "Malacca" in Malay).

Then he said something along the lines of "Kalau begitu di sinilah akanku tubuhkan kerajaanku. Kunamakan kerajaan ini Melaka". If that is so, I will establish a kingdom here. It will be named "Malacca".

That's about it. Don't really buy the story completely, but it's one of those pieces of quaint folklore you don't mind hearing over and over. :). Hope that answers your ques.
