    Is there any way to unsummon a familiar (level 5 summoning college). It's great in a fight but when I want a bit of peace and quiet the metronomic beat of the wings drives me mad. Help!

    either send it in against a really hard enemy alone, or just make everyone in your party wait, then go to another area and kill it there. it wont affect your relationship with followers if you do it that way.
