Thieving

I just got some jobs from the Thieves Underground and alot of them require me to lockpick a chest while an NPC is in the room. Of course, when I do it, the NPCs go nuts. I,ve only got the 1 in the Zoological Society, and I had to kill the guy to get at the chest, which I beat apart. Is there a way to lockpick something like that without them noticing???

Be invisible but since you are techy I don't think that'll work.

 

High prowling skills, and wait til night
they go to bed and then they don't notice you lockpicking

 

This works even better if you're "Dark Sighted" background, and you destroy all the lights around the area that you're planning on plundering.
