The future of Terra-Arcanum?

Umm...I'm a casual Photoshop user - if you give me something specific to design, I'll fail miserably . But I enjoy having a bit of a screw around - don't expect anything much, and I may just come out with something nice. I'll try to get something to you sometime soon.

 

I've got a very basic version of a stake/revolver logo going, if anyone can be bothered hosting it for me. Obviously only a start, but tell me if I'm heading in the right direction.

[EDIT] - Scrub that, I've done a basic mini-logo/god-knows-what and text sample for Vampires, which is looking quite good, and I'm working along similar lines for Arcanum and ToEE. They still need hosting, though - just yell out in this thread, my email's out.

 

I'm a good at very little artistically, but I've got a friend who can draw shit (by hand) that'll make your nuts hit the floor.... I personally like the design, but if you email me an idea for an image or something you want, I'll speak to her about it... and then I'll scan it, and give it to ya.

 

i think it looks realy great, why not throw in a mini section for fallout, fallout 2, and fallout tactics patches/ editors etc for download? those things probably wont be available on official web sites for much longer...

Besides, don't you think that FO2 and Tactics are getting further and further away from the "World of Troika Games" theme? Personally I'd just be happy to see the Arcanum stuff rehauled/corrected/added to.

 

The Jinxor is back now DU...I'm sure he'll be willing to chat with you in the next couple of days. Just get on IRC in the morning if you can (morning being SA morning, not Poland morning). That's when he's most likely to be there and talking.

 

Yeah, just got online today.

Right now it's almost 6am, I've slept only 4 hours in the last 48, (not counting the shut eye I cought during uni) so I guess I'll withhold anything specific till tomorrow.
Terra-Arcanum will undergo a couple of changes pretty soon though, and not just possible front page rehals.
I need a chat with all of the staff members.

I agree with Canis, no offense mods, but some of the Arc stuff is out dated, if you need any assistance what so ever I'm more than happy to lend a hand, and good luck with the FTP program! btw, has anyone complained about Jar's violent picture? I personally find it disgusting... it's not like my Picakcha, which was cute, it's just... brutal.

However, I would like to suggest getting rid of the theme-based headers (The "library" "council" etc etc parts). Instead, replace each one of those with overall headers (NEWS - GAME - GAME - GAME - AFFILIATES / LINKS / HOSTED SITES [new name needed]). And then you can place the theme-based headers under each of those. For example, take a look at www.orionsector.com (thats where I got the idea... which I think works).

And just incase you dig a little further than I'd expect (the news article on the front page would probably show why i'm worried) the fanfic section is currently undergoing an overhaul - there'll be a much more standardized format shortly, currently only Invasion by Betrayal is updated.

 

Matt, first off, that's Jinxed sig, not Jar's. Second, his sig doesn't move. Third, he runs HoL and that means it doesn't matter if you don't like his sig.

 

As Blinky said, it belongs to Jinxed. Secondly, everyone else thought it was pretty cool when he first started using it, so I doubt anyone finds it offensive. If they do, well, then they probably shouldn't get on IRC.

 

Looks cool I like it generally though I'd pass on color text on the main page - somehow that red vampire link doesn't fit in with the rest. Make it darker perhaps or just black like the rest.

 

Yup. Thats what I was thinking of, more or less. Just remember to A) make the area you "mouse" over to hover large enough that its easy to do so, and B) make it so the mouse-over area also acts as a link to a page containing the sub-headers in case someone with a browser that doesn't support "hover" code drops by.

 

sorry Jinxed.... oh, and I agree with ya Ron, the two layers is a good idea, and it should be just 'shiny' black text, if ya put too many colors in the site gets a garish look to it... and Jar, what's a link to IRC, and when's Jinxed on? I'd LOVE to see what's so offensive...

 

If you go on IRC, you'll run across Kay pretty quickly. I think he set a record for the quickest banning after he went into #arcanum's alternative channel, #qfg_blueparrot, and mentioned (in a roundabout way) incest, and his approval of, and participation in, it. I was personally amazed that he could be banned for so little, which goes to show how much tolerance I have for degradation.

As for getting on IRC, look on the main site - the instructions are pretty clear, although subsitute #TA-Regulars for #arcanum.

 

thought I'd never say this, but Thanks Jar... and I've run into worse ppl in chats Kay doesn't sound that bad.... I would prefer talking to someone who approves of incest then to someone who has a picture of a slightly staked body... btw, Sleek, you need to post that link to the Super KKK bros on here agian... that was funny as fucking hell!!
