I'm not sure I agree with what's on that link, but it does suggest some restrictions on the internet. From what I've read it sounds more like its prioritizing traffic types rather than content. Specifically noted was video, but you could also add in voice, since both are time-dependent, where as data is not.

The real attack in that bill isn't the internet junkie surfing the net, but Bell telephone and its copper landlines, which make up the majority of the telecom backbone; and the contenders who dont want to pay for the use of it anymore. ...But, there was discussion of restricting certain content-types which does indeed start to infringe on the Constitution..., but they get around it by offering to allow those services for additonal premiums. Greedy bastards!

Monoplies still suck though, like the evil empires of Microstuff, Whalemart, and A@l.

They actually contacted me a while back, which is how I knew about it in the first place. I signed a petition, but I don't know how well that'll work. Most of the votes were against net neutrality; apparently, our "representatives" don't know what the hell we want. There's going to be an email tax, too.
Any way, they give phone numbers to the representatives on the site you linked to, Frigo, and I'm calling one of the Pennsylvania reps tomorrow after I get home from work.
This is ridiculous. Imagine trying to drive to work, but you need to pay extra money to use a certain road. And I'm not talking about turnpike tolls. I'm talking a major highway, owned by a single company, and you have to pay them royalties every time you drive their road. I'd piss on all the money in my wallet if I had to do that. Either that, or shove it all up my ass. I'd still pay, but with tongs.

*chuckles* If this finally goes to hell, and the internet becomes taxed, I'll begin slowing dissecting the members of Congress who voted for it... toe by toe, they'll regret the decision. =P

I'd count with their digits until someone reversed the vote. If it took too long, I'd start up a box of hands.

No, I got their personal staff, who had no idea as to what side their boss was on, or that there was ever such a vote. Yeah...they're honest. :x

No, no, At&T can reach out and touch someone. That's much scarier than some old guy in a special chair saying "Feel the power of the dark side...!"
It's like he's trying to molest you with his mind.

I'm telling you one thing, and that's that I'm not going to pay internet taxes to the states. Or to anyone. But espescially not to the states.

I think this only has bearing on the internet used in the US. Unless they try to lobby some new laws on your countries, I think you guys are safe.

Can someone link that song so we all can feel the revolutionary spirit, and at the same time blame Canada?
