The Dernholm Pits.?

Hey everone,
I know that I've been posting a lot, but please bear with me, okay, you guys.?

So ehm, here's my quetsions:

1. Can I enter the Dernholm Pits.? And how.?

2. Where do I find a Medallion of Beauty.?

3. How can I lower some stats.?

4. How can I turn Virgil from magic towards, what shall we say.?, gun-man.?

#1: I had a hell of a time trying to get down there in my first games, and was forced to locate a walkthrough to find a way. As I remember it, you must do this before finding the Vendigroth Device, and you must do things the evil way (join with K'an Hua in Caladon and accept his quest to rescue Tollo Underhill from the Pit). Then go to Dernholm and chat with the Pit guard, who can be annoyed into tossing you down or just do it swiftly if you're evil enough.

#2: (Shamelessly lifted from an item guide) Medallions of Beauty to be had in Dernholm (woman in King's Inn & Pub), Black Root (wandering woman), and Roseborough Inn (a woman, plus inside innkeeper's chest). Sometimes also found in the Tarant Sewers (the closed part), Ancient Maze, and Lair of Bellerogrim.

#3: Well, you can get Scarred for -1 Beauty. You can annoy some god by doing the God's Quest in the wrong order and get a curse instead of a blessing. You can get cursed by siding with Delores Beeston against Madame Toussaude. Plus other not-so-nice things. -- If you mean lower some "useless" stat to get points to raise a "useful" stat, I don't think that's possible.

 

Who's K'an Hua.?

 

He's sort of the evil version of Joachim, and is found in the Panar'ri Temple in Caladon.

 

There is a back way in if you want to cheat.

Go to Dernholm. Align your PC with the back, lower corner of the roof of the general store (far left of town) and walk west by southwest from that spot. It will take some searching, but you'll find a stairway that is the same as the elven tomb on the plains. That's your way in. Be ready to battle the prisoners, and skill with lockpicking comes in real handy.

 

What does "align" meen.? [Embarresing...]
And can't I use Locking Cantrip (or what it is called) instead.?

 

Say you had a pencil or something similar, and you see that there is a tree with a branch pointing to the west. For whatever reason, you point the pencil west as well. By doing that, you have aligned the pencil with the tree.

 

So you say I've to place myself with my back against the shop wall and start walking west/south.?

 

Exactly. The back left corner as you're looking at the outside of the building.

The stairs are not the easiest thing to find, but I think it's worth the effort.

I've never visited the Pits myself. I'm just too angelic for that sort of thing.

 

Actually, I found the stairs after 20 sec. Hehe...

I explored the whole pit with Mr. Tollo... It was fun. But I was also too angelic for him to join me afterwards... Doesn't matter... I've already got full party...
