technical book problem

    After you by the tech. book do you have to carry it with you foreever. If not how to you use the book. I've tried to read it and slept overnight to see if I would learn the book. I know that I recieve the points for this when I have in my invetory but I don't want to carry these books throughout the game.
    Also thanks for answering my questions on how to use the schematics.

    Them put the book in a follower's inv or in a nonresetable chest.
