Could anyone here make a little mod, or editior, or download, or something that would allow me to always summon the best pets (namely the familiar) no matter what magick aptitide? I really want to do this becuase I want to get summoning, but I also want to get a lot of tech. With tech, my magick aptitude will be way way low (like -50) and I will get a crappy familiar. I want it so it is automatically max summon. Anyone willing to do this for me?

I also was wondering if anyone knew of a editor that allowed you to make your own game "backgrounds", like, technofobic and day mage and beat with an ugly stick and stuff. I want this one to acctually put it into the game if possible, I mean, the one on the terra site is fun and all, but its not really in-game.

    Thanks a bunch.

P.S. I guess if that doesnt work, Ill go for max magic and then try and weasel my way to arachnids, then remax my magic. Will stuff like arachnids and automoton work with 100 magic aptitude?

Scroll down a ways through the forums--this question is one of the most popular, and there is reference to an "effect.mes" that you can get and use to create and edit your own backgrounds and their effects. As to what the limitations are with a background, having never mucked around with them (not that far in my mod yet), I am not sure.

As for having the absolute best of both worlds, with a summon and an arachnid, it is fairly safe to say that the way the game is designed would forbid it. HOWEVER, if you really wanted to experience the ultimate thrill of being able to summon powerful familiars with a techy character in a mod, then I would recommend that you simply create a super-magicky follower, and then make him a simpleton whom you can order to cast spells--namely summon the familiar for you. Any enemy attacking would then be faced with the follower's familiar and the arachnids or whatver it is you wanted! I realize this doesn't give you exactly what you were hoping for, but again, unless you really found a way to go in and determine what part of the game found the magical aptitude and determined what familiar to summon and then rewrote it, I dont think you could get it to work.
