Once for themselves and once for the USA.

Despite a 3-1 drubbing at the hands of some angry Pollacks, the USA are going through, because South Korea beat Portugal. Lysa is ecstatic. I'm pretty chuffed, too.

Now the USA have to face Mexico in the next round. Surely this North American derby will rouse some interest? Won't the US be pretty keen to beat the people they generally look down on?

Those South Koreans - they looked good, even considering Portugal went down to 9 men. I think I might support them if England get knocked out.

What? Your wife is really corrupting you. Why would you support a country that repeatedly made comments about how silly football is (and the rest of the world for loving it)? I have even read a essay that stated that football is the sport of primitive men, as the use of hands, the mark of civilization, is forbidden (sorry, I don’t remember the name of the author).

Disclaimer: of course I am joking as:
    1) I never take the actions of a few wackos as the whole countrymen's statements.
    2) Football bores me to death. I am hoping this bloody thing ends soon so I can see Episode 2.

I meant I'd support South Korea. Although, now you come to mention it, I would probably go for the USA first. I quote like the fact they're not football mad. The fact they don't have hooligans is in their favour, too.

I personally think that Italy is looking pretty good. They should have beat Mexico, stupid referrees. But they still advance. Mexico seems like a lost cause anyways.

The U.S.A should make it all the way. It would be quite a disappointment if they didn't. Especially because all the good soccer teams the experts thought were going to win got eliminated so quickly.

It would be a shame if the US won it all. We've got to be one of the most apathetic soccer countries on the Earth. I imagine that the majority of US citizens had the same reaction as I did when the news broke that the US was advancing in the World Cup, namely, "World Cup? The boat race? Say, didn't we cheat on that a few years ago? We used a catamaran and won the whole thing."

The only people I know who are active soccer fans are either (a)little kids who play soccer, (b)the mothers of those kids, (c)the Brazillian UPS guy who roots for Brazil, (d)other ex-patriots who all root for their respective countries, and not the US.

Oh, and (e)Mia Hamm, though I don't know her personally.

This is my pick for the final 4 - Spain, Brazil, Denmark...and I'm having trouble remembering my fourth pick. I'd like Senegal to make it that far, but I'd also like England and the USA to choke. Especially the USA. They don't deserve to win.

Don't deserve? Why does any other team deserve it more? More training? Do other teams want it more? Bottomoline:If you wi it, you earn it. The ends are greater than the means, my philosophy.

The USA couldn't give two shits if it won the World Cup. Like Milo said. You'll understand when you're older Vyass.

I also remember who my fourth pick is now...Germany.

To be fair, I don't think it's his age, just a complete ignorance of soccer that gave him that opinion.

World Cup finally got iteresting. I like it very much that teams on which no one would bet a broken cent before kicked ass of a number of "will it wbe 1st or 2nd place for us" teams. IMO it would be best if none of those great since the dawn of football teams that are still in the game (Brazil, England, Germany, Italy) got either of the first two places.

BTW what do you think about your national teams play? Personally I must say that Poland got totally humiliated. Worst thing is that those cretins in defence didn't even care to approach a ball if it didn't fell directly at their feet. The fact that we won with US? That doesn't really matter - perhaps it'll only help Polish players escaping with their lives when they get back.

    Sligthly inaccurate. That should be:

The USA couldn't give one shit if it won the World Cup, let alone two or more.

NOTE: I don't care about the World Cup.¹

¹Seeing as Australia didn't even qualify :(

That's not it. I would just like the USA to win I understand that they don't give a shit about the Worl Cup or Soccer in general. But if they can win, so be it.

Rosie:My ignorance? You are rooting for Jamaica...

Oh smooth - a rapid change of subject to an obscure, meaningless, endlessly debateable topic!
If only it had been relevant.

You should know by now that Vyaas only seems to be able to debate because of his uncanny ability to bring up irrelevent points.

    ****Disclaimer****
I am in no way attacking Vyaas' credibility pertaining to his debating ability outside of the debating post as a way to subliminally influence people to realize that i am a far better debater. Any coincidental influence is purely coincidental and not a goal of me, the poster.
