I noticed that when I put Elite Plate on Sogg it showed Critical Chance 2%. I checked his character and his magic/tech rating is 14 magic. Huh? He doesn't have any CPs in magic. In fact, he has no CPs in anything except Dodge and Melee and stats. Why is he magical?
Probably because of the Dark Helm. If you equip that, you gain +20 magick alignment and -20 good/evil alignment. As Sogg was neutral before you equipped the helm, he didn't get all 20 magick alignment... At least, that's what I think has happened...
There are areas with magic or tech aptitude. When you go to one all of your characters aptitudes will change towards that aptitude. Check you magic aptitude by the magic shops in Tarant (that is the only one I have noticed but I don't check that often). You should be more magical. Move away form the area and it will return to normal.
Really? I never noticed that particular little quirk...Are you sure about that colonel_mortimer? If you are, that's a pretty funky little feature .
3 races get 'inherent' bonuses - dwarves, elves and half-elves. Everyone else starts off neutral, and can go down either path. Half-ogres may be inherently magickal, but they don't get any special bonuses.
I heard it rumored during development that there would be magic and tech areas. When I was playing a purist fighter I went to buy some items and my MPA was around 60% on everything. With 0 aptitude MPA should be 50%, so I knew somthing was up. When I left the shop and moved a few blocks away it lowed back to 0 aptitude. Try it yourself.
I have noticed that sometimes when I load a game up, that I have +20 to my magick or tech aptitude...it's really strange when it occurs...
