So the game is finished, but it wont ship til September?

Just because they have to translate it to the rest of the languages.. means all of us english knowing users have to suffer? What is the meaning of this?

Hollywood movies are released first in the US, then other countries with english languages.. then its translated, and shipped to the rest.. thats why most countries get hollywood blockbusters a few months after their initial release. Btw, thats not quite true.. most movies are already on warez before their initial release.. :smile:

BUT damnit Sierra, what are you thinking delaying Arcanum?!!

 

It's to reduce the amount of warezing that those nasty foreigners do.

And BTW its not jus for translation that it is delayed it is for localisation, what i mean is that even tho something could be read by all the english speaking ppl round the world the context may not be understood as it was meant. Because of different meanings for the same word all around the world, and different slang.

 

Oh well, as long as they don´t cencure the game, like FO2 was, I guess I just have to wait.:sad:

If the game is as good as I believe, I probably will forgive Troika, 30 min into the game. :grin:

 

Well, the delay is more by the publisher Serria/Havas and not Troika. The localization process has been "taking longer then expected." They want to do the translations to French and German justice.

Part of the problem has most like been the "Dumb" Dialog. How do you translate "Vergil sayz i am impotent figure." into German and French.

Considering that there is a resonalable market for RPGs in German and French, I don't mind the wait if it is good for Arcanum.

P.S. FWIW I was truly upset over the delay, but now that shock has set in I find I am much more tolerant (better living through synthetic chemicals)!!! :lol:

 

If someone translate into Swedish, I´m afraid I will have to get one of those US version warez. :sad:

They should leave it in english. That way they don´t have to translate and everybody learns english, we can communicate with each other and world peace will break out. :wink:

no, they will only translate it into french and german.

i doubt that translating an RPG is valid form sweden, due to the massive amount of dialog.

anyway, don't worry, we will be getting a crappy manual tops.

Don't worry Jureel, it's only us poor people overseas that has to worry about crap manuals, due to translations. It's highly unlikely the original Arcanum manual will be anything but great. There's actually fiction in the demo manual... compare that to FO:t's.... :wink:

well either way i'm being sent a copy by sierra, so no worries on my part

anyway, hopefully they wont translate the manual in the swedish version, i really can't see why(its not as you could understand the game, if you can't read the menual).

but they might(the biggie problem is that they will then make a norweigan, danish, finish, swedish manual all in one, and thus cramp the size of each manual by 4)
