Sebastian suddenly hates me

I usually have Sebastian the technologist join my group, at least until I get Raven and then have Virgil rejoin. I play a good character, and usually his attitude is courteous towards me until the point I send him away.

In my last game, Sebastian had managed to break his charged axe on an ore golem , the useless sod (actually I forgot to tell him to back off ). Luckily for me I had bought the schematic, and a whole bunch of manuals, so I made him a new one (as well as a pyrotechnic one for Magnus, that he prefers even over Harrow and the iron Clan hammer).

The moment I gave Sebastian the axe, his attitude turned to hatred. He would still follow the group, but would randomly attack me or other members of the group, especially during fights with others- the only way I could (occasionaly) stop that was to tell everyone to back off and move far away. In the end I had to ask him to leave the group, at which point of course he immediately called me a gutless half-breed (half-elf ) and attacked me.

There were no other items involved (like Dark helms or Scourges), and I think his allignment didn't change, although I'm not 100% sure (I don't have a save from that time). I just gave him the new charged axe, and he immediately started hating my guts.

Does anyone know why this happens? I could care less about Sebastian, but I just made a Compound Bow for Raven and I'm hesitating to give it to her.

 

Well, I can't explain the Sebastian situation, but I'll tell you this for free. Get a magic bow for Raven. Giving her the compound bow will end in tears.

 

"I kept throwing hints as our anniversary was approaching- I took him past shops with magic bows, mentioned again and again that Sharpe was getting Ivory an Arcane Bow for her birthday... And in the end, what does he go and get me? A lame Compound bow! As if I'm one of his techno pals, and I care for his gadgets and his childish mech toys! It's as if he doesn't know me at all"!

 

:rofl: I think I love Raven even more now. That's classic!

 

I did the whole thing again, and this time Sebastian remained courteous. i wonder- is it possible that his sudden mood change was the result of me taking a couple magic skills with my remaining CP's? Seems unlikely, but whatever.

(Or at least would look like him, if the magnetic inversion chapeau, Bronwyck's gun and rifled cannon were actually visible. *mourns the lack of Arcanum 2 yet again*)

 

I would simply put it down to the fact that Sebastian is a jerk. Why of why did you have to remind me of no Arcanum 2!
