Question about Virgil

My problem like many is Virgil gets stuck in the trees. I've looked at a couple of old posts and everyone says just reload and try again. I have about 20 times and he doesn't do anything differently. Is there a way to avoid him leaving all together.

 

just have him wait someplace outside the city.

thank you, that is so obvious yet I prob would have never though of it.

 

I left Virgil outside and when I went to collect him he just joined the party and hasn't said anything about leaving. Is it vital the storyline that he is reborn.

 

I have never tried it that way, but since you don't necessarily even have to have Virgil as a follower I wouldn't say it was necessary.

 

With the patched version, virgil just comes back the same as he left. You just find out about his past that he didn't help his brother out and he died.
Just keep playing.
