Got the game on Saturday, great so far, but I'm having problems with killing the Ore Golems in the Black Clan Mountains, I'm level 11 they are 25 and they rip me to shreds.
Some more info on what type of character you're playing would be helpful. But in general, switch to real-time and hit-and-run. Ore golems are very slow, so you shouldn't have any trouble hitting them and running away. Use cheap, throwaway swords, since you're going to be breaking them. If you have a distance attack like a boomerang or a gun or a bow, use that. Switch from attacking in turn-based to running away in real-time.
Same advice appies, then. Go to the nearest town if you have to and buy some cheap ass weapons. You'll probably find some in the caves, but you don't want to be caught short. Then just go at it. Run up to the ore golem. Start combat in turn-based and wail away. Once you've burned all your APs, switch to real-time and run away. About a screen's length will do you. Then switch back to turn-based. The ore-golem will waste all his APs running up to you and won't have any left to attack. Then just pound on him some more, and run. Repeat until it's dead.
turn based is no fun (for me).... since your a tech. lay out some traps, lead him into them lat you followers attack first....and just run up and hit him back off run back etc.
Or get a few more levels and a nice big axe (axes no longer get damaged fighting ore golems I believe, at least mine doesn't, the faithful pyrotechnic axe...). Trying the BMC at level 11 is suicide unless you are a huge melee character.
although this entails putting a point in throwing...chakras also damage ore golems...and magical chakras (even if you're techie) doesn't get damaged.
Only putting one point in throwing is pointless though - it's hard to hit anything, much less in a dark cavern...if you have explosives skills, get a whole lot of molotov cocktails and throw them left right and centre. No throwing skill required, you'll be bound to get him. Oh, and if you're particularly cheap, stubborn or insist on doing this, use turn based. Potions thrown from your belt don't use up AP's...
