Possible bug?

Hello all! First time poster, I just discovered this great site.

It would appear that I've run into a glitch - I've recovered the taxes from the mayor of Blackroot, but when I reach King Praetor again, I can say that I have his taxes, but I don't complete the quest - no XP, no complete mark in the journal, no nothing. I can do it again and again, nothing happens. If it is not a bug, is there some way to barter/give gold to him that he will accept so that I get the credit and XP for completing?

I downloaded and installed the upgrade, if that's what you mean!

 

I updated to 1074.

However, I updated AFTER I encountered this problem - Is it possible that it will work if I ditched this char, made a new one and completed the quest again?

 

Allright, I'm going to scrap my character and play through it again. It's not like I'm that far into the game anyway
