Since I have always played arcanum as a butt ugly brute or powermad mage, I thought it might be nice to try a charisma based character. Unfortunately my first attempt ended rather badly, so I thought I would get help before I tried again. 1. Is there anyway to raise the amount of experience I am getting? I am leveling very slowly compared to my other characters, in fact the character I just scrapped tried to enter the Mines at level 11. Is there anything I can do about this? I do try to play in hard, so that might be the problem. 2. What are the effects of poor alignment? I noticed that using the Dark Helm and the stillwater blade gave me some very nice allies, but I would rather not become evil if it will mean that certain dialogue options will be closed to me. Is there any negative consequence to using it on my companions? 3. Can I keep Doc Roberts If I have perfect(20) Charisma? 4. What are some good companions to have? 5. Are there any other allies like dog who do not take a follower slot? 6. Last game I did not actually attack anything, I just used the attack order. Should I think of adding an attack skill? If anyone else has any suggestions please share them with me. Thank you for your time.
2. Most options are still available 3. Not sure, could be worth trying though 4. Get Sogg as soon as you get to Shrouded Hills, then play your cards right to get Chukka off of Bates, then you should be pretty safe. 5. Mech Arachnids and Automatons (I think, haven't used them in a while) 6. Try firearms, if you play a tech character you can make tech followers and making the goggles helm will mean you don't have to spend that many points on charisma. Don't bother maxing it out, just enough to allow yourself to provide a little cover fire for your followers. Also, do the Halfling quest in Blackroot, the reward from that can come in handy in a tight spot.
Dante and Jormund do not use follower slots either (in the case of Dante, and I think Jormund too, you might have to have them leave the group and rejoin to get it work). If you don't want to go tech, magick is pretty cheesy. Make a persuasive mage with the harm spell and you're pretty much set.
