How to go to orgy island? Maybe you could put traps around Madam Lil's there an instant orgy island. If it's 1/2 ogre island good luck finding an orgy. Try Stillwater. But to get there talk to a guy get it marked on your map then talk to a captain and go there. If you're lucky you might find your orgy.
You guys got this all wrong - it's half-orgy island. Yes, that's right, they're not even giving you a full orgy - which is why you, upon entering the island, have to sign a contract which removes all your legal rights to claim your money back! :-o Doesn't that make you all wet? Oh, regarding the original question, I believe all the info you need can be found here: http://www.terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/view ... gre+island Guys... didn't this topic go a bit out of hand?
orgy heh? and thats how 1/4 ogres came about anyway this has me wonderin why there arent any 1/2 ogre females. or ogre females for that matter
You forget the one rule of RPGs, and most video games for that matter. All females must be either young and sexy or old and wise (or witchy). Teenage boy market niche. Dwarven and ogre females would be mad ugly, so they need to avoid putting them in. For the dwarves, they gave an explanation, but that was really just an excuse not to have ugly young-looking females.
Actually, I wouldn't say its so simple. You can hardly accuse professor J.R.R. Tolkien of using "teenage boy market cliches", because dwarves and orcs in his books are all male. He was simply following the pattern of most legends, Celtic and other, where there are no ordinary women, only princesses and witches (there aren't ordinary men either, in fact). Most fantasy writers (and game makers) are just following into Tolkien's steps.
*bows head in a simple gesture of defeat* No, you're right, of course. I was just being cynical and sardonic. Blasted hangover. Really, I think the dwarf thing in Arcanum was an attempt to reconcile standard fantasy and mythopoetic tropes with a modern, scientific world, in which people actually start asking penetrating questions about the world around them. In Tolkien's world, there are no ethnologists or paleontologists. When those folks start asking questions in the mad world of myth, confusion and bizarre explanations ensue. I think they actually handled this quite well in Arcanum, with just the perfect alchemia of pseudoscience, science, speculation, and tongue-in-cheek humor.
What I would REALLY like to see is Bedokaan females. I still think that the Bedokaan's origins are from the Void, where, as we all know, the dominating species are lizards.
The actual explanations of the lack of female half-ogres and dwarves is somewhat explained. I can repeat it now... extremely insightful spoilers: Dwarven females are very protected in Dwarven tradition. Now WHERE exactly they would be kept is a mystery, but like most other smaller races, the females are very important and extremely well guarded. The half-ogre women are a different story. If you've done the half-ogre island quest, you'll realize this at the end. There were so few half-ogres, so the gnomes bred them for guards. At first they captured the women, but in those experiments, female offspring were produced. These females are now being held in breeding centers in unknown locations. There may be only 1 or 2 free female half-ogres in ALL of Arcanum, so low an amount that not even YOU would run into them.
