Perhaps if you'd been paying a little bit more attention at the time then Troika wouldn't have gone under.

I don't think Troika went bankrupt because of the pirated copies, but the LOLNO3DIRATHERPLAYDOOM3 types
But, of course, don't ask for crack at a forum where the mass majority has it legally.

 

I dont know, if you invested a hefty sum into a game that financially took anose dive, and you invested capital woth it, you might be inclined to declare bankruptcy to avoid paying back all those loans. Its common practice in business, and everyone writes it off on taxes as a 'loss'.

Unfortunately, we'll never see Arcanum II unless Sierra gets a boatload of requests all at once from its remaining fans.....

So... every one is supposed to mail them and tell them that they better finish Arcanum 2?

 

Yeah, thats the one I found to, but its all tech support and career stuff. What we need is the marketing dept, and then we could email them and tell them what a "fantastic game Arcanum is, and when are they going to produce a second one?" Add in some bits about "all our friends play it, but nobody can find new copies on the shelves..."

If enough of us hit them around the same time, maybe some ambitious guy would take it and run. Or maybe we'll just annoy the hell out of them, but at least Arcanum wont go down without a fight....

 

I've had bad dreams since I made that comment. What if the poor guy just wanted the patch? I'm a semi-regular at another forum where all warez/cracks requests get slammed within seconds, so I'm used to reacting as quoted, but... what if I was wrong?

Please, absolve me of blame, all ye gods of Arcanum.

 

It can happen that he can't stand fretting his original CD or that +700MB on his HDD, but it's still better than a 3rd party low-quality crack. Besides, the two illegal versions I've seen so far are unable to run without crack. So I'm pretty sure he wants to play it illegally.

 

ISO + Daemon Tools + Securom emulation (if I remember correctly)
But the 2 versions I mentioned didn't contain the neccessary information from the CDs for the emulation, they needed a crack.

Annoying nag screens, unstable cracks, potential spyware or trojan, etc.

 

if it wasn't for all the trojans and other nasty surprises that are likely present I would download cracks for *all* of my games. I *hate* having to dig out the cd every time I want to take a few precious moments of free time to play whatever random game from my collection that has momentarily grabbed my fickle fancy.

The few games I have that don't require the CD (quake3, alien vs predator, etc) get played *a lot* more than would otherwise be the case simply because they are always just a click away.

I'd love to have arcanum be so easily accessable.
