Ok, so magnus is fighting some creature and BAM! out of no where theres an explosion that kills the creature but doesnt affect magnus...and this happens almost every encounter...so are his gauntlets infused with some weird explosive?

Yeah, that's supposed to happen. Those gauntlets are some kind of ancient dwarven technology stuff. Pretty powerful...

Hmm and how high is this damage? Maybe its better to leave poor Magnus unarmed than give him a Balanced sword of his own clumsy making? Hmm...

Unless you modified them, Magnus's gauntlets should ONLY give him DX +2, ST +1, CN +1. I don't know where the other thing is coming from, but it must be from something else he is wearing, NOT from his special gauntlets.

It comes from the Mysterious Dwarven Gauntlets, only those and not any other dwarven gauntlets and whoever is wearing them has to be unarmed, usind their fists. The occurence of the fire blasts appears to be random.

I noticed this too but I think it's just some cool thing and it doesn't have any real effect

    Your signature smells.

Have you done any editing that may have triggered it?

No editing is necessary. It's just something the gauntlets do once in a while. Let Magnus go hand-to-hand long enough and you'll see it.

I used to think that it was an effect that occured on critical hits, but then I noticed that it happened on normal, non-critical hits as well. The effect doesn't seem to indicate any additional damage though, fire or otherwise. Just a neat little thing.

That IS a rather large sig Wolfie's got, isn't it. Nice big blinding stark white square, I just lurve it.

Ok, I finally found the script that does the damage, but it isn't supposed to be fire damage, just normal damage. It does have some eye candy (55) with it which should make it look like an explosion and an appropriate sound effect, but technically it is still normal damage. 8) You have a 1 in 20 chance of it happening if Magnus is unarmed and wearing his mysterious dwarven gauntlets. I didn't see it before because it's buried in a script instead of being in the effects.mes file, but that makes sense since it is a random chance event. :)
