I'm talking about the elf guy in Stillwater who divulges the whereabouts of Qintarra and triggers the Stillwater Giant. I remember one day randomly finding the Amulet of N'Tala on his person while messing around. I promptly killed him and returned it to Gaylinn in Shrouded Hills as I had played through the game a few times and never been able to find her amulet.

I was wondering, is there a part to the quest I missed? or are you supposed to just randomly find it on him for another way to find Qintarra? She just says she has no idea how the guy got it...

As far as I remember, it's just there for an alternate way to find Qintarra.

You haven't missed anything. There aren't any clues leading to the fact that it is Myrth who is in the possession of the amulet.

Wayne is correct. The quest may seem incomplete this way, but rather than being a normal quest for all characters, it's a safety measure ensuring that those players who (more or less) accidentally kill Myrth before he talks still have a way to find Qintarra.

Yeah I suppose it makes sense as a fail-safe to find Qintarra. It would still have been quite easy for them to add in one line of dialog to Myrth to explain why he ended up with the amulet, or just have Gaylinn say he was her astranged uncle or something (which is what I expected her to tell me)... I don't like open ends! You can imagine how upset I was with the Half-Ogre mystery :)

Bah, kids these days. You expect CLUES for quests and puzzles? In my day you had to talk to everyone three times, check every container three times and then go on a random killing spree to find the answer to even the simplest mystery.

To be fair though, except mass murderers and kleptomaniacs most people would never find the amulet without looking it up.

Nah: sometimes I use the pickpocket thing just to see what others have in their inventory; I don't always steal it.

People like you are why folks should keep the curtains in their bedroom shut all the time, even if dirty stuff isn't going on there.

Ease up, lady! I'm just checking your underwear, it's not like I'm going to take it or anything. Sheesh, some people.

Come to think of it, I often do it to characters in Arcanum, too!

You remind me of the haggle master I once played that used to buy whatever shopkeepers were wearing just to have them stand there naked.

Well, if you're the Pickpocket Master you're also a well-known pervert, so it makes a kind of sense.

That explains why so many local merchants are always naked...
