Mayor of BlackRoot

Hello everyone,
This has been kinda bugging me for a while so I thought I would ask someone here.
Where is the Mayor of BlackRoot's dagger that he wants you to find?
He says that a local group of theives stole it but I cant find 'em.
Any help would be....uhhh.....helpful.

 

The thieves' camp is not in Black Root per se, but just north of it, near the two naked halflings. Go north from the inn, and you'll find them a little ways past the river.

 

Look for paths behind the hotel & the Train. Follow them off the town map.

 

i first found their camp when i took a train in. i think i went west and stayed north of the town and came across them there...

Ok... this is not important but... if you want a good ending for Cumbria you can kill the Mayor and bring the taxes to King Praetor... then rescue maximilian and there's the third ending for Black Root... also is easier than doing the mission for the Mayor (I just killed him, layed about 11 spike Traps around the house and after almost every guard was dead I just ran away. )

 

Well if you're aiming for a good ending, where's the roleplay value in unnecessary slaughter?

Gotta schlepp up to the thieves' camp anyway if you want to play the Ancient Game.

lol.... It's actually in the actual unmodded game. Visit the first naked halfling on the coastline just East-ish of the Blackroot mayor's house. He'll give you the first question, and if you answer correctly he'll give you further instructions. If you win you'll get a small gift and a spiffy new reputation, though I'm not sure what effect the rep has.... Maybe halflings like you more afterwards, beats me.

Well, Canis, that I'm talking about is a good ending from my point of view... but if you're an UK lover then forget it.

If you do it that way, then Maximilian declares the war to Tarant in order to recover Black Root and beats them with the Dragon Knights... you saw the slide? That guy in power armor with a rifle, mounted in a mech horse? That's a good ending for Cumbria (and you can see how good is Maximilian that could beat Tarant!).

 

Maximillian will go to war over Black Root anyway, even if you convince the mayor to align once again with Cumbria. Except with my way, you don't get the cool mech horse slide. But I didn't mind much, I'm using that one as my wallpaper at the moment.

Is there a limit to the number of slides you can be shown? Last game, I didn't get the Alexander slide even though I uncovered the truth about the dark elves and Mannox and all that.... I probably need to cut back on my do-gooding.

 

I prefer the other ending better.

And I also did the Mannox quest and got nothing. In fact, the only time I got that ending was when Nasrudin killed K'an Hua... I then I hadn't done the whole Mannox mission, never gave Alexander the journal nor the sword! :???:
