Magnus won't rejoin the group

To fight in the pit, (Isle of Dispair), I need to ask Magnus to "wait" once I do that I can't get him to rejoin my group. Is this a bug; is there anything I can do to keep him and still settle the fight in the pit.

I tried rejoining him first but no luck. I also have Dog, Virgil and Sogg. I can get him to make things for me but there is no dialogue option for him to rejoin.

I can't tell you: to get past the well-educated half-ogre, I just made him tell me his long story and then persuaded him to let me in afterwards...
I don't remember exactly what I had but it was something like 12CHA and 2 or 3 levels in persuasion... (very useful skill!)

 

What's his reaction to you when you tried to get him to join, Rollbar?

According to someone in the Inn this is a known bug and is on Troika's list for a fix.

I tried making him wait once and he then accused me of making a deal with the, long-deceased, Schuylers and he tried to kill me.
Lather, rinse, repeat!

He didn't leap at the chance but it was not really difficult to get him to come along. I do recall he was most interested in locating his clan and he had stated he did not believe the Black Mountain Clan were his people. ...........hmmmm I do have a can of Dwarven Snuff I might give that a try. Any other suggestions? I don't really want to give up on Magnus, he's been helpfull.
